Stripey Felt Christmas Stocking

Not much Christmas crafting going on around here this year yet (honestly, I am just happy I got the tree up), but I hadn’t found a felt stocking for Clementine as of last week, so I pulled this number together over the weekend:

I’m feeling pretty clever here. The beauty of this one is that it was made completely of small (9×12″) sheets of wool felt, eight to be exact (plus a few scraps of acrylic I used for the holly adornment). I always have a tough time finding felt by-the-yard that is also cute, but this felt from Heather Bailey was really adorable and just had to be bought. I’m also hoping to add a letter “C” yet or embroider her name on it yet, but we’ll see what we have time for…

  1. I love that the stripes are angled. I think it is something Clementine will love for years to come. I know that pulling out their individual Christmas stocking is something my children look forward to.

  2. Aren't you the clever one? πŸ™‚ My MIL made the girls' stockings…and Mimi's was just delivered THIS MONTH. Yes, it was started in October 2008. Those felt applique kits are a doozy…

  3. You should feel pretty clever because this is so sweet. I lovd those colors. I bought all the fabric to make us new stockings last year, but instead broke down and bought the PBkids ones on clearance at the end of the season. Seeing yours makes me wish I would have stuck to the plan!

  4. I love it! And, I think we have the same stocking hangers! Are they reindeer? I cheated and purchased my little man a stocking. I do have plans to make one, but this year it just was not going to make the project list.

  5. I simply adore that stocking! I am always on the look out for good felt. I am totally stocking up….ha, "stocking". OK Im going now. Think I lost my mind:)

  6. Great colors – it's so cheery! I just threw together a stocking for Serena last week & hand embroidered her name on it. Went a lot faster than I expected, so go for adding a C – wont take more than a minute.

Miss chatting with you – I'm actually working the store on 12/19 for the first time in a long time!

  7. Wow, that's super cute. I should start thinking about making a stocking for my new little one that will need one next Christmas.

  8. I love the stocking and the colors. I think its so cute and really like that it's not all traditional Christmas colors. It's perfect.

  9. Hey Rae! I just finally bought myself a copy of One Yard Wonders (an early Christmas present to myself!). Your patterns are SO SO cute!! How do you do it? Thanks for being so inspiring and I can't wait to try them, especially your Summer Nightie!
