GUEST POST: Army Bunker Tent by Care

We have another fabulous guest blogger here today, Care from Obsessively Stitching! Care’s blog is impressively chock full of tutorials and ideas (OK, and I was sucked in by the cute pig and wolf finger puppets, see picture below). With two boys to sew for she’s got plenty of ideas for boys too! This week she’s got an entire week of tent tutorials going on over at her blog called “Tent Week” (a w e s o m e !) so be sure to look back at the tents that have been posted so far. She’s here today to share a few of her best boy-friendly crafts from her archives and introduce you to her Army Bunker Tent Tutorial.

GUEST POST: Throw a fantastic boy bash by Jess
From Rae: I am thrilled that Jessica Levitt of Juicy Bits is here as today’s guest blogger. Some of you may already be familiar with Jessica as the designer of the new fabric line Timber, which debuted at Quilt Market last fall (and which, incidentally, has many great boy-friendly fabrics, this one being my personal fave). Right after she left her career as an engineer (she has a degree in electrical engineering and computer science from Duke) she worked as a professional event planner, mostly for weddings. Now she puts that experience to good use designing the most fantastic parties for her children, Aurora and Theo. She’s here to share a little of her amazing creativity and give us…
My Boy
It’s our anniversary today. Nate and I met at Book Club in 10th grade (I was 16, he was 15), passed notes in Dr Keeley’s Calculus class senior year, took a few years off from eachother in college, then later got back together. Eventually one of us said “How ’bout we get married?” and the other one said “OK!” so we got married on Valentine’s Day. Which was actually an accident, because it happened to fall on the Saturday before my mid-winter school break six years ago…
ooh la la
I’m never going to get any sewing done ever again since I seem to be wasting all my free time looking at the photo pool. Mr Rae says I’m spending too much time on the computer. And working with computers is his chosen profession.
Oh man I can’t believe this. I spent all this time selecting these awesome pictures from the Celebrate the Boy! Photo Pool and then the mosaic maker deleted my link list. OK, well if one of these is your picture, claim it in the comments!
If you’ve made a 90 minute shirt (I HAVE! but it’s February and I live in Michigan so pictures might have to wait awhile…)…
GUEST POST: Retro Race Car Appliqué by Jen
Introducing Jen of Puddle Jumping Designs as today’s guest blogger! I just recently discovered Jen’s blog and I was so impressed with her work that I knew I needed to feature Jen’s work here to help us Celebrate the Boy! I think you’ll love the amazing appliqué she has to share with us today. A little about her: Jen’s career as an artistic entrepeneur began selling painted rocks door to door at the wee age of five. She studied graphic design in school and has had some unusual hobbies including ice skating, stained glass mosaics and wire sculpture. Once she accidentally auditioned for the Cincinnatti Opera (I’d love to hear the story there!). She now contracts design work from home where she takes care of…

Kwik Sew Fleece for Elliot
It’s been great having this month of posts just for boys because it’s forced me to dig out all of the projects for Elliot I had set aside so I could sew other things. One of them was this fleece jacket, which really came in handy this past week as we visited my parents in the Pacific Northwest, where it was a balmy 40-60 degrees all week and trees were budding way ahead of schedule. So this was the perfect weight for playing outside, visiting the zoo, and pruning the shrubs for Grandpa:
and riding…
GUEST POST: Trinket Keepers Tutorial by Traci

From Rae: I’m so excited to introduce our guest blogger for today, Traci of Amazing Mae! Last summer I made myself a skirt with her splendid ruffled skirt tutorial and now she’s here to show you another great tutorial for Trinket Keepers for boys! Traci lives with her husband, daughter, and sons in Louisville, Kentucky where her husband builds affordable energy efficient homes. Before kids she was a tour operator/travel agent and she still dreams about all the places she’ll go! Her favorite sewing project is adding appliques to anything and everything because it’s so quick and makes something instantly one-of-a-kind (I love seeing the designs she comes up with, see photos below). Traci also runs an Etsy shop, …
