Blue Bonsai Bag Giveaway! (NOW CLOSED)
UPDATED (9/26): THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED. THANKS EVERYONE FOR ENTERING!
UPDATED (9/28): WINNER SELECTED AND CONTACTED! The Blue Bonsai giveaway winner has been selected at random and emailed. Congratulations to Courtney (aka The Sargent Family) who said:
I recently came across your blog (2 weeks ago) I feel sort of stalker-ish but I love going through your older posts. You are so inspiring. Our family plans this weekend are to go to this cool park that actually has a zoo (with all local animals)and a little train in it. They have the entire park decorated for Halloween. I am excited to take my 11 month old son, Cash now that he is walking.
If I won this purse, I would use it as my around town purse and throw a diaper in it. I am so tired of carrying a diaper bag and a purse. This looks like it could hold my items as well as some of Cash’s necessities.
She’s already emailed me back with her address so I can send out her bag. Enjoy your Bonsai Bag, Courtney!
Alright everyone, it’s time for a GIVEAWAY! Yaaaaay! *does Kermit arms* This is the first of three Bonsai Bag giveaways that will happen over the coming week. Today’s giveaway is for the blue bonsai bag (designed and sewn by me) and I’ll be giving it away to one of you, dear readers.
: : Let me try and make it sound even more lovely than it looks : :
Medium-sized tote with a center panel showcasing Princess and the Pea double gauze from the Far Far Away collection designed by Heather Ross. The pleated panel and the straps are made from pale blue baby wale corduroy. The inside is fully lined with a yellow-orangey cotton broadcloth and has a recessed zipper closure and cell phone pocket. Orange pompom trim on the front (but not back) of bag. Straps tie to plastic rings.
: : Dimensions of pertinence : :
Body of bag: 14″ wide, 11″ tall
Straps: 24″ long (tied length, includes tabs and rings)
Inside pocket: 5″x6″
: : And here’s what you need to do to enter : :
- Leave a comment and tell me: what you’re up to this weekend or how long you’ve been reading Made By Rae or where you would take this purse if you won it. Or something interesting so I don’t get bored reading “pick me!” type fare.
- Include your name and email address (“rae AT email DOT com” or “raeatemaildotcom”)
- Only ONE comment per person. If you need to make any changes to your original comment, delete it and post a new one.
- Giveaway is open to US and Canadian residents. FYI, the next two giveaways will be US only.
I’ll leave this giveaway open over the weekend. Comments will be closed Sunday night sometime between 8 PM and midnight EST. It turns out I’m not phenomenal with timing, so I can’t do much better than that (sorry!) The winner will be selected with a random number generator or toddler and contacted via email and I will also announce on this post. And just think, it could be YOU! Try to eat and sleep between then and now though.
I still have two more Bonsai Bags to give away. These giveaways will be a little bit different. I’m pleased to announce that the white and pink Bonsai Giveaways will benefit a local non-profit charity here in the Detroit area. If you’ve been around here for awhile you probably already know I’m a proud Michigan girl, so this is a cause close to my heart. I’ll introduce you and provide the details next week. Have a great weekend, everyone!

i am SO excited for this weekend. Heading up north for a quilt auction and in the past there has been vintage fabrics in the back of the hall for cheap!! so looking forward to having my time to look around and soak up the auction!!
love your bag…you can never go wrong with pom poms!
Love this bag! I'd take for a stroll in the park, for drinks, out to dinner, the theater! (Really as a mom that means to the park with the kids, for juice boxes, to a burger join, and to watch a G rated movie!). But, hey, I'd be a stylish Mama doing all that with this bag!

I've obviously not been around long enough because I didn't realize you were a Michigan girl. Me too, but have moved out east. We'll be back this fall and I'm looking forward to a cider mill and donuts! Looking forward to seeing what you have cooked up with the charity giveaway. Not much going on this weekend, but we are attending a super-awesome organic agricultural fair on Sunday.
I have been waiting for this giveaway. The princess and the pea has been my favorite story since in was a little girl. If I won this bag I would take it everywhere. My girlfriend and I are planning a new York trip next yearbwhich seems like a great place to show it off. Thanks! jen at red-curls dot com

This weekend we I am going to a fancy party for my husband's work, which means getting all dressed up (fun!) and we are thinking about going to a book festival. Not thrilling stuff, but not a bad weekend, i think. Love the bag. It would have been perfect for the book festival.
You make it sound like this bag is anything less than perfection! Seriously, this bag is amazing. I love the color, I love the ties, I love the tortoise shell rings and how can you not love anything Heather Ross touches? My favorite part? Pom poms make me weak in the knees Every. Time. ♥!
I love this bag! Corduroy and fairy tales are two of my favorite things.
I would take this bag everywhere…to school, Target, the Harry Potter and Narnia movies later this year, etc.

This weekend is pumpkins and pirates! I am taking my toddler to pick pumpkins and then helping a teen pirrrrate party as a youth leader. All in a days work….. I would take this purse everywhere! (I'm in love and I think the purse will love being with me too)
Oh…I love this bag. This week has been spent house hunting and this weekend will be clebrating buying a home with my husband…Granny kept the kids all week. I would take the bag on our trip to our new home from Pa to Fl and I'm sure many other places. I became addicted to your blog about 7 months ago when I first started my own blog. Thanks for the great giveaway.

Ha, ha! Kermit arms. Love it. We're headed to Birmingham for a quick overnighter to go to the LDS temple, then home again (Georgia) for the weekend… but THEN we are going to the Florida coast on Monday for a fab little family getaway, and I am soooo excited.
CUTE bags!!

I have something interesting – I sewed through my finger with my embroidery machine earlier this week. Yuck! Luckily my dear old dad was able to pull the broken needle out with pliers (ouch!) and I avoided a trip to the ER at 11pm. I will never get my fingers anywhere near the machine again!!!
Love this bag!
courtlyons@yahoo.com
This bag is SO fun!! I would carry it everywhere, to be honest! This weekend, my husband and I and our 2 year old daughter are planning on going camping. We'll see though – it's supposed to rain!
kristen.munson AT gmail DOT com
Oh I love this bag! The Princess & the Pea Heather Ross fabric is one of my favorite fabrics and you've showcased is so brilliantly here (and made me think about all the projects I could make using just a wee bit of this fabric — it makes me too sad to think about using all of it at once). And I'm mad about anything with baby wale corduroy (including the overalls I just made my son).
Anyway, I would take this bag all around China! (Where I'm currently living but I swear I'm a U.S. resident and you could ship the bag, should I win, to my in-laws in Indiana and they'd be happy — well, maybe not so happy — to bring it with them at Christmastime). If I was toting this bag, I think even more people would stare at me here! But it would be because of the awesome bag, not because I'm a foreigner.
shastagrant at gmail dot com
This up coming week I am sewing Halloween costumes. I picked all my fabric up yesterday and am set to roll. I think If I won this, I'd have to give it to one of my best friends. She LOVES all things fairy tale so it would be perfect.
I love this, too. I think it'd become my next all-purpose, all-occasion bag.
This weekend I'm visiting a friend in the hospital who just had her twin boys…they were due on Christmas! So teeny-tiny, but doing so well. I'm excited.
anniehuddleston @ gmail . com
This weekend we'll be trying to reassemble the apartment after baby and I were both sick. (Next weekend is far more exciting….apple orchards and playdates!) I would take the bag to the zoo! The Detroit Zoo, to be precise. (I'm from Westland, though currently in Howell.) Been reading for a couple months, ever since I discovered the Buttercup Bag pattern.

NnnGAH! Boring stay-at-home mom here. "Interesting" weekend staying at home on the farm w/7-yr-old bundle-of-fun daughter and thinks-he's-a-big-dog dachshund. Wake up! There's more. Been reading your blog about a year or more. Where I'd take this bag? Most likely to a baby shower for our pastor's daughter in December. Otherwise, I gotta get me own britches in gear and sew her a tote. Which I intend to, but time's a flyin'…. Oh,almost forgot: susanmaurer at windstream dot net
Love this bag…it would be my new everyday bag. Taking my 3.5 year old to a friend's bday party this weekend at a kid's gymnasium. Should be fun! Thanks for the giveaway!

mokruhlik(at)gmail(dot)com
Love this bag. Sign me up.
This weekend I've got kids swimming, birthday party, sunday school, apple picking, painting basement floor, and painting a mural on my daughters wall. Too much?? (Oh, and I would use this bag almost anywhere)
I think if I don't win, I just might have to make that bag myself – I have some of that very FFA print in my fabric stash!
Thanks for a great giveaway!

I started reading your blog a few months ago. I have a nine month old son and wanted to take up sewing to make him some cute stuff and I happened upon your website. I love the tutorials and your big butt pants pattern! Thanks for providing us with some boy patterns! This bag is awesome, it would be great to have something for myself! I hope I win!
vvkirkley AT yahoo DOT com.
I've been reading your blog for about 9 months now…
This weekend I am working on making my soon to be adopted little boy and girl some Tees for Two (inspired by you!). We are taking our first family photos and I thought it would be cute for them to have semi matching shirts with little "K"s on the back!
Hmmm, where would me and this sweet purse go??? We would definantly be wearing our cute orange knit "half" cardigan and a pair of well worn jeans… or maybe my white skirt??? Definantley with a pair of TOMS. Anywho, we would more than likely take an evening stroll (of course on my regular Mommy Monday night off!) to our local Barnes and Noble, get some starbucks and read through the latest sewing magazine or contemplate our next book of sewing projects for Christmas.
I love the princess and the pea fabric. Weekend plans include making homemade donuts, going to see Veggie Tales Live, and a one year old birthday party. Celebrate good times, come on!
cfhogueATyahooDOTcom
Building a giant snake cake for my 5 year olds birthday party!!! Love your blog, been reading it for about six months:) danakean at gmail dot come
I love that bag! If I won the giveaway it would be with me always. I haven't had a chance to buy a new bag in a few years lol. sad I know. I would take it with me to the grocery store, the mall, the park, to church. I esp adore the pom poms!
They are such cool bags!! This weekend I am going door shopping, a few weeks ago I locked myself out and had to attack the back door with a hammer to get in, it was quite scary to see just how easy our door was to break into
Anyway needless to say we now need a new door….
B-E-A-Utiful bag!
This weekend, I am going to spend the weekend with my Grandfather. I'm going over tonight to make him dinner (Chicken Piccata with peas, YUM!), then we're going to go out to breakfast in the morning. It should be great fun
nutmeg36(at)gmail(dot)com
This weekend is only one day for me. I've got to work Sunday. But on Saturday, hubby and I are going to an old timey festival to see old farm equipment and stuff.
I've been reading Made by Rae for maybe a year or longer.
I'd use this bag everyday. It would probably go with me everywhere.
wigray06 at yahoo dot com
My parents are coming to visit for the first time in 3 years! We are going to drive up north to catch the fall colors and have a picnic. Have a great weekend
Hi Rae! I love your blog…check it everyday and have so for over a year now. I love your work. I love this little Bonsai bag & I'll be entering each giveaway, just so ya' know! This weekend I'm taking the children (while the hubster golfs!) up to the mountains to my great grandparents house that has been restored over the past year or so. I'm quite excited to see the clean-up & changes made. Other events scheduled for the weekend are a child's birthday party and football watching (any college/team, doesn't matter, just love football.) Thanks!

Well, I'm not super excited for this weekend. My little girl has a bad cold.
No fun. Maybe she'll feel better tomorrow and we can actually do something fun!
And I would take this bag as my non-diaper-bag bag! Being out of the house without needing diapers? Didn't know it was possible!
Thanks for the giveaway.

hmmm….this weekend I am going to go see Jason Mraz with my way cute husband:) Oh, and uh….I have been following your blog since forever, like, mid 2008 sometime. And you never disappoint! How do you do it??
Idealy I would be in the sewing room this weekend, but most likely I'll be in the backyard helping DH finish the shed =)
Once I pried the bag out of my girly- girl's hands, the purse would replace my current purse and go every where with me… You know, all the fun places that moms get to go =)
lberger1016(at)yahoo(dot)com
I've only been reading your blog for a few weeks now, but I am loving your cute patterns! I'm a Michigan girl, too, and Saturday the family is heading to Hy's Orchard to pick a bushel of apples. (And eat a bushel of donuts
alanna@fotherby.com
i'm hosting a baby shower this weekend and i can't remember how long i've been reading your blog…1 year? 2?
Yours was one of the very first blogs I started following – I was just getting back into sewing and found your buttercup purse pattern, which I love – I've made several for myself and for gifts. You are very generous – the bag looks fantastic!
Melissa mouellette80 at hotmail dot com
LOVE this bag!! I have been eagerly awaiting the release of this pattern.
We're headed to the Country Living Fair this weekend – I am SO excited.
This bag is adorable! This weekend we're headed to a great local festival filled with fun activities for little ones…pumpkins, cider and free train rides up the shore of the big lake. Can't wait to watch our one year old soak it all in.

This bag is gorgeus!
I follow you through feeds for a long time, even if I don't comment.

ummm… i'm being a total teenage girl and I'm going to the Muse concert on Saturday! With my sister. We are so excited. it's my first time going out at night since my baby was born in february. i may never come home…
mtkirsten at gmail dot com
I have been eagerly awaiting this give away! I have been reading your blog for about a month now and it has gotten me off my butt… Well on it just in front of a sewing machine now. But my crazy self got so motivated I'm planning on sewing all 3 of my boys winter wardrobes hopefully before #3 is born around Halloween. So this weekend will consist of lots of sewing, the farmers market, and waddling around after two toddlers!!
This bag is SO gorgeous!
My husband works three 12 hour shifts on Fri, Sat, Sun, so the kids and I won't be doing too much stuff in the way of all that is awesome.
Today, we're going shopping for a meal for a friend that just had a baby and then running it out to her this afternoon when naptime is done.
Saturday is the LAST outdoor farmer's market of the season. We are SO sad to see this come to an end for the year. We've only missed one market this season. So we'll say goodbye to our favorite farmers and bakers and enjoy the live music.
Sunday we perform Sexton duties for the church we work for, then head to our own church, and then come back to finish up stuff for the church we work for. After that? Counting down the hours until husband gets home.
musical.girl at gmail.com
this weekend i will be nursing my newborn around the clock… i gotta get his weight up – dr's orders(nothing very exciting, i know)…. oh and probably watching football too.

LOVE Heather Ross, and the bag is just beautiful!
We're celebrating our son's first birthday. He was sick on Wednesday, his actual birthday, so both sides are heading over to help us celebrate.
LauraL444 at yahoo dot co
Thanks for the chance to win!
This weekend, I'll be heading to the local farmers market to load up on my fruits and veggies.
Also going to try to catch a movie with my husband.
I love the Bonsai Bag. I would tote this baby proudly everywhere I go. And when people compliment me, I'll say it was Made By Rae.
Crazy weekend! There is a luncheon today (at my house), a ward talent show tonight, and a block luau tomorrow. I have company coming in on Sunday, so it should be fun!
I love this bag!

This weekend marks the beginning of no more free weekends until March. Yes, the start of hockey times 2! I will be spending both Saturday and Sunday morning from 8 until 12 with my boys and their conditioning camp. I hope to also fit in some time shopping… but shhh don't tell the hubby that one yet!
Im sick right now so my only weekend plans are to get some R & R…oh and attend my little girl's soccer game tomorrow.Right now I cant get off the couch so Im praying I'll be better by then.
This is my favorite of the 3 bags. Its adorable.
And yes I make bags for a living too but a girl can never have too many bags!
Thanks for the chance:)

my sister is visiting to help me with my 4 kids, SUCH A blessing! i've been reading your blog for over a year and loving it. Your wit makes me giggle every time.
I plan on taking this bag everywhere with me. Probably the cutest thing i've seen ever!
gorgeous bag! i'd take it everywhere with me. my big weekend plans are relaxing with my husband and baby boy.
This weekend I am going out of town for a nephew's wedding. Love the bag! I would give it to my daughter-in-law-to-be because she IS a princess, but a hard-working princess. jobafa2000@yahoo dot com

Ooh ooh pick me! Pick … me…?
OK OK
My little girl and I have been reading up a storm and the Princess and the Pea is one of her favorites (at first she thought it meant "pee" because she still pees the bed at night).
If this little bag made it over to our house, it would go straight to the Girl-chick so she could use it for gymnastics and ballet!
I am planning on spending a nice quiet weekend at home. I'm really looking forward to it because the next few weeks are going to be crazy busy.
This weekend I'm heading to NJ to visit with some family that I have been seperated from since I was about 8 years old. It's been an interesting process getting to know each other again, but it's been a wonderful journey to say the least. Then, we are off for a day of fishing with my 19 month old daughter. I've been reading your posts for about a year now and I just love all of your creations. If I could only be that talented!
christina.moses1 AT gmail DOT com
Oooo-oooo-ooooo!! It's my favorite of the three!!
Let's see…. I started reading Made by Rae when I was obsessed with making baby girl dresses for my as-yet-unborn daughter TWO YEARS ago. I found your Itty Bitty Baby Dress pattern, and have followed ever since.
Also…. PICK MEEEE!
)
The weekend unfortunately involves cleaning the house. Want to come help? We're having lots of people over after M's dedication service on Sunday.
The bag is so cute! I'd love to win it.
Sarah
p.s. the bicycle pants still fit M. He wore them the other day.
This weekend: DS(11) needs to finish sewing his camoflauged cloak (his own design) and DD(8) is sewing her American Girl dolls fleece ponchos. So, dueling sewing machines. Also, team pictures, soccer practice, two flag football games, birthday party, two baseball games, a soccer game, church, organic CSA pickup, and DH is running a half-marathon. Whew!
This bag would probably spend most of it's time with me in Target.
Ha! I wonder how many times "Target" is listed in your comments today.
Yay giveaway! (THANK YOU!) My weekend plans include enjoying some fun in the park with my girl and lots of sewing in preparation for my first craft fair next weekend!

We are taking a trek to Kansas to visit my husbands family. We finally have moved close enough that we can manage it in a weekend. I have been following you for quite awhile, we actually lived in Michigan when I found your blog. I love this bag and I can't wait for the pattern of this AWESOME bag. kerrieratliff at hotmail dot com Thanks for your great ideas and thoughts!

I am doing a little craft show on Saturday selling some of the kids clothes I make. Then the rest of the weekend I'll be hanging out with my 2 favorite midgets. Real exciting life I lead. I did go see Big Head Todd and the Monsters last night. My big night out! LOL
This weekend, I'm going to sew some pillowcases for the bed. I did this a while back and they are now my favorite and make the bed look so inviting. Not that that is really a problem! Have a lovely weekend.!
Oh Rae!!!
Not only do I think this is fabulous but my middle daughter would absolutely think I was the bomb diggity (ha! i don't think i've ever used those words together) if I was able to stroll around town with this gorgeous bag!
Thank you for the giveaway!

PS – I've been reading your blog for about 7ish months. I found you near the end of my pregnancy and you kept me company during those early-on-many-times-a-night feedings!
This weekend I'm taking dinner to friends who had their baby 2 weeks ago. And I would carry this bag everywhere.
I have 3 sick kids, a sick husband and a cuddly newborn. I'm gonna spend the day running from one to the other, and maybe just maybe sew on the "one hour" dress that I started 4 days ago……
I'd really love this bag, so I can be stylish (at the pharmacy).

This weekend is my son's 2nd birthday, so we're having a little party at the park with some friends unless my second son is sick which it sounds like he is. My in-laws are coming into town because my SIL is having a baby any day but possibly at c-section on Monday, so we'll be preparing for that. And I hope that my husband and I can sneak away and have a date night (which we haven't had in well over 4 or 5 months) to see Like Dandelion Dust. Plus we'll go to church on Sunday. Should be a pretty full weekend. Thanks for asking!
I've been reading your blog for about two months. I love your ideas. As far as this weekend goes, my in-laws are coming for a visit. So, instead of reading blogs I should be cleaning the house! Thanks for the giveaway, pick me, pick me!
Whoops! Forgot my email address…let me try again!
I love this bag! I didn't realize that it has a zipper…it would make a lovely knitting tote, would it not? I plan on knitting and reading this weekend. Bliss. Maybe a little sewing, but that is not so blissful for me as I am a beginner!
my email is gracedlee AT gmail DOT com. Thanks!
This weekend I'll be doing some serious yeardwoark – no so fun but looking forward to the end result. Thanks for the great giveaway – I've been a reader for a long time (since the debut of itty-bitty baby dress) and keep coming back for more. I need a new fall bag in a bad way, so I'm hoping I'm lucky enough to win!
this weekend my hubby is enjoying a guys night so i am taking advantage of a quiet home and will watch a movie while i work on a quilt and drink some wine! sat ill be celebrating a friend's 30th birthday at a surprise party! where would i wear that bag? everywhere it's too cute not to show it off! i am always looking for a carry all that i can take to work and out on the town! love it!
thanks! seamsgoodtome AT gmail DOT com
Pretty sure this one is my favorite! This weekend I am going to mommy/baby happy hour. My mommy group gets together once a month, corrals the kiddos, and eats and drinks! And, daddy is coming with me this time so I'll have someone to drive me home…
This weekend I'm going to celebrate the fact that i finally got a job! I have been applying ad applying since i graduated college in May. I have been following you before i even had a blog myself!
Oboed at aol dot com
well my household has been awake since 4:15 this morning as my hubby was leaving for a business trip and my kiddos heard the shower running and decided it was time to get up. Needless to say I'm exhausted!
If I were to win this bag, I'd fill it up with a plane ticket and some candy and make plans to take a trip to visit some exotic place sans kids so that i can get some rest!
but realistically I'll probably fill it with wipes, match cars and pacifiers and head to playgroup–in style!
thanks for the chance to win!
brockdiva at hotmail dot com
I love your blog – and I love the white bag with the quilted center. This weekend I'm catching up on small sewing projects. I'll attempt to quilt an iPhone case, sew some baby bibs & burp clothes, and possibly some pillows. I'm sure I'll blog about the final outcome!
shelleykasiske AT gmail DOT com
I love love love this bag … and your blog! I am christmas shopping this weekend, which isn't as crazy as it seems when you find out that I'm due with baby #2 mid-november. Probably won't be getting lots of christmas shopping done AFTER that!
I'm new to the world of crafty/mommy blogging but love checking in every day!
Love this bag– I'm a total Heather Ross fangirl! I found your blog via Spring Top Week a couple or three years ago. Can't remember? I get compliments every time I wear the ruffle top I made using your tutorial. sarah@frogcreekcottage.com
This weekend is action packed for us!
Today is my mother's birthday and one of my sisters is coming to visit; I also have to finish the skirt I am making for my mother's birthday gift…. we are going to a football game tonight to watch our boy – who is a senior and is the drum major of the band and then to another game tomorrow to watch our girl cheer at her pee-wee football game. Sunday I am singing in church and then it is my husband's ridiculously enormous family reunion by the creek on the family property. I still haven't decided what dish to make OR finished my lovely dress that I making for that event.
I love love love the bag – and I would take it EVERYWHERE with me and take pictures just like flat stanley
I can see it being a Bugle Boy commercial in the making – "Excuse me, is that the Made by Rae Bonsai Bag you are carrying?" "Why yes, as a matter of fact….."
thanks for the giveaway!!

Oh my goodness! That bag is so darling! I love the little red pom poms on it. I've been reading your blog for the last year or so.
Where can't you take this bag? Everywhere and anywhere! Fabulous enough to go to a dressed up affair, fun enough to take on a stroll through the park. Love it!

"WAKA-WAKA!!!" (*Fozzie the bear*)
I'm going to my nephew's football game on Saturday followed by a family get together and on Sunday I'm cleaning out my closet… exciting stuff (*rolling of the eyes*). I'd rather be sewing!
This is the perfect bag for going out shopping or to church. SO fun! I would have to hide it from my daughters though, 'cause I know they'd be all over it!
"BEEP-BEEP" (*that's Beeker saying he hopes I win*)

We are taking our 2 boys to the Ohio Renaissance Festival this weekend to see knights and jousting and pirates! Oh wait, that's what I'M going to see..well the boys will like it too
What a pity I won't have won this gorgeous bag yet or I could take it with me!
randi dot deroest at gmail dot com.
I found your blog almost 6 months ago. I had just learned to sew and I stumbled upon a free baby dress pattern that you had on your blog. My daughter has had one for every size she has reached since.
I would love to use this bag as a carry on. I am a stay at home mom (in Arizona) and I am sent to both my home (in Washington) and to my husband's home (in Oregon) every few months so the grandparents can see our daughter. Traveling never makes me great to look at. I figured that eyes could be on this great bag instead of on me.
dmkuhns@gmail.com
this weekend isnt too exciting for except that I get to move all my sewing stuff out of my bedroom and into our brand new guest room. So excited. I am more excited with what I would do with the purse. I am ready to ditch the diaper bag and just use a purse instead. whatya think?

This weekend my husband and I are driving 3 hours to Louisville, KY to support my mother in the Ride to Conquer Cancer. She will ride her bike 75 miles on Saturday and 75 miles on Sunday! Her team has raised $30,000 for cancer research and I am so proud!
Also on the agenda is staying up very late and sewing with my sister – trying to finish as many projects as possible.
I've been reading your blog since you posted the spring top tutorial on sew mama sew. It was the first project I did aafter not sewing since middle school! thanks =)

Legendary fabric! The Princess and the Pea was my favorite story as a child. I know that if ever put to the test, that I, too, will feel that pea and have my beauty sleep disrupted. Dramatic, maybe. True, yes.
Very cute bag! This weekend I am helping my husband with homework and then watching some college football at my in-laws' house!

We just got our power back after being without for almost 2 days! I will be cleaning out my refrigerator and restocking this weekend! Fun!
Hey there! I don't really know how long I've been reading. Seems like it's been forever. You're one of my staples!
This weekend I will be curating an art show- hanging lots of pretty pictures in a gallery, going to a museum for free for National museum day!, having Sunday dinner with some lovely dears, taking my cute baby boy to see Toy Story 3- which has opened at the cheap theater!, and celebrating my birthday! I am hoping to get some sewing/crafting projects done somewhere in the mix, too. Love the bag!

I love these bags, and I love your blog! I'm headed to a football game this weekend, and this bag would be perfect for sneaking my Red Vines and Pringles in.
Thanks for all blogging, I just love everything you do!

I have 2 little kiddos, 1 boy and 1 girl. This would be the perfect marriage of purse and quickie diaper bag! There are times when I just don't need (or want) to carry the mondo diaper bag and this would be perfect for stuffing my wallet, a few size 2's, a few size 4's and some wipes! (Did I mention some snacks, too? You know, for me!!) Thanks so much for the giveaway. I love your blog and I've purchased the BB pants pattern and can't wait to get some non-kiddo time to tackle it! (Wishful thinking??)

I love this bag!! I'd take it everywhere; downtown Frankfurt (Germany), school, etc.

I am up to dejunking, I know, exciting! I would give this bag to my 15 year old daughter, she'd love it. Can't remember how long it's been since I added you to my blog roll.
I'm Heidi, I'm from Alberta Canada. I love your blog. I've been following it for over a year. This weekend I get to take the morning off and get groceries without the kids. Which I'm super excited about. I might even stop at a antique store since I'll be by myself.
Well I would of course take it everywhere, after I passed out because I actually won it!!! Especially because it's "made by rae!" And this weekend my sweet traveling husband will be home, there will be football and chile in the crockpot and a some fall weather finally making it's way to us.
Thanks Rae!

I've been reading your blog for just over a year. I love it. Personal and sewing, just what I love. I started just before your Spring shirt contest last year – I participated this year. I'm excited for the next one coming up
you can't let me down and not do it.
Cute cute cute!
Heading out to Joann's today to pick up some fabric to line a bag I am making out of the new Amy B book. I am obsessed with bags!
We're going camping for the first time with our 3 year old. Trying to squeeze out the last bits of summer! Love the bag!

How cute! This weekend I'm hanging out with family and hopefully doing some sewing, in between the usual weekend chores of laundry and grocery shopping!
I'm not doing anything fun this weekend, just studying for an exam that I have next week and grading papers for my students. Oh, how exciting. :p But winning this bag would definitely make it more exciting!

I'm waiting to have my 4th baby this weekend. 39 weeks and counting. I have a 4 year old and twins that are almost 2. This should be interesting

oooh, that bag was my favorite fabric combo! Thanks for a chance to win

I've been reading you for about 4 months. I've been looking for bags to make. I made a buttercup bag for the first one. I'm either going to make another one this weekend or start on a gnome baby quilt for my soon to arrive nephew!
I have been reading your blog for about a year, maybe not quite a year now. I adore that princess and the pea fabric. So stinkin' cute. tessakeath at gmail dot com
We're going on a Buddy Walk this weekend ~ an annual fundraiser for the down syndrome society (I have a newphew with DS). Should be a fun time!

Hey Rae. Love the bag!
I've been reading your blog for about 9 months now. I'm hooked:).
Thanks for the chance!
I would use this fabulous bag to secretly transport my pet ferret, Jean Claude, to and from my day job as a school librarian. OK, so I am just kidding about that but I sure would love the bag!
meganannie18 at hotmail dot com
Cute bags! Let's see, this weekend we are taking the kiddos to Lowe's for Build and Grow Sat. morn, then hitting up our friend's 4th annual end of summer cookout that night. I have a tennis match on Sunday afternoon after church and I'm hoping to squeeze some sewing in there somewhere. Phew. Tired just thinking about it!
Enjoy your weekend!
Lindsey
This weekend I am heading to a party in Royal Oak and I'm supplying the dessert: baking a cake for the host Krista…inside the cake it will be blue or pink to reveal the gender of her baby due in Feb.; her and her husband had their ultrasound tech call me with the news last week- they don't even know yet! Darling bag I've love to have! jenniferirirsh4 at gmail dot com
Going to my parent's house this weekend to have her help me pin the quilt I made for my daughter to the batting. (see http://www.eliandellaoriginals.blogspot.com to see the quilt top). I'm not a quilter usually but I was overloaded with scraps!
lesliewilliams@hotmail.com
I found out my husband has to work tomorrow (a ranch hand's work is never done) so I will be using my brand new quilting skills to finish my first lap quilt. Then more crafting as I work on Christmas presents (ack! it seems to early for that!).
Sunday will likely be more of the same. My husband will be in his leather room (the basement) and I will be in my craft room (upstairs). Perhaps we'll go for a drive if the weather stays nice.
My nights will be spent dreaming of your lovely Bonsai bags and where I might wear one.
sharonelaine79 at gmail dot com
My husband has Tuesdays-Thursdays off work, so we just finished our "weekend." We didn't do anything special. While he's away at work, though, I plan to sew myself a shirt dress. We'll see how well it goes – I've got a cranky toddler on my hands, so I may have to use all her sleeping times for naps for myself! cltrash at ymail dot com
I am having a girls night with my Mother in law this weekend, its a good thing she is fun and we get along great!
I need a new bag to haul my purse stuff and my kids stuff (like diapers and small thing of wipes) so that is what I will do with it!
shantelhjones at gmail dot com
I recently came across your blog (2 weeks ago) I feel sort of stalker-ish but I love going through your older posts. You are so inspiring. Our family plans this weekend are to go to this cool park that actually has a zoo (with all local animals)and a little train in it. They have the entire park decorated for Halloween. I am excited to take my 11 month old son, Cash now that he is walking.
If I won this purse, I would use it as my around town purse and throw a diaper in it. I am so tired of carrying a diaper bag and a purse. This looks like it could hold my items as well as some of Cash’s necessities. My name is Courtney Sargent and email is Courtney.sargent@schubertco.com
I really love the bag. It's so darling!
I've probably been reading your blog for about 4 months now, and have been so excited to get back into (and improve) my sewing. Thank you for the inspiration!
As for the weekend, a 5K with my 11-year old, watching my husband race bikes, picking grapes and juicing them, and canning peaches.
Next week: aprons (and handbags if I don't win) with my sis-in-law! Woohoo!
By the way, I'm also from Michigan…Manistee…though I've been gone for years.
kitchenaddiction (at) gmail (dot) com
I'm a first time mom, still in the frumpy stage. But all it takes is something new and pretty to make a girl feel good so I think for a while I'd walk around everywhere with this bag!
I've been reading here for about a year now. Thanks for all you do! Go Michigan!

Oh Rae, where do I begin…We have a long history, you and I…diaper covers, pattern swapping, skirt week, randon swedish fabric gifting, and now, let's add… GIVEAWAY WINNER! (wink, wink) -Shannon (you-know-the-one)
this is my favorite of all the bags! i love that princess and the pea fabric. love it. and i would love to take it to my favorite coffee place, where i would sit quietly without my kids and pull a book out of it to read. ahh, what a nice fantasy.
i am spending my weekend celebrating my nephews 2nd birthday! and sewing. a lot of sewing. and a little crocheting. i am determined to finish up holiday crafting early this year and spend december making something for myself.
and i hope you have a great weekend too!
sarah.fitch at gmail.com
Ok 2nd time is the charm, right? I just found your blog via Handbags n Pigtails and am loving it!
This weekend, lets see… Ladies "spa" retreat at church (this evening), varsity football game (eldest son, dad and brother watching) youngest son game night at church. Saturday-football practice, marching band competition from 10-8, then maybe a movie w/ the guys. Repeat said schedule (minus ladies spa night and game night) for the next 6 weeks. Then its wrestling…
The bag would be for our youth leader's wife. A thank you for all the time she gives to the kids and the time she and their girls give up with her hubby/their daddy so he can be a mentor to a great group of teens.

I'm making my first buttercap bag(s) this weekend and hosting a chili fest! Can't wait to complete my first made by rae project! mary dot kellerman at gmail dot come.
Oh I love those bags! This weekend I'm going to work on quiting a compliation quilt for my neice Rosemarie who has cancer (It's childhood cancer awareness month btw – and the quilt blocks were made and sent to me by quilters from around the world!) I have been reading this blog for… two years? For as long as I've been reading blogs I think.

madcap_mennonite AT yahoo DOT ca. I've been reading your blog for the past couple months. I think I originally clicked through from Whip Up (?) It's been such a long time now that I don't remember! I think your bags are really charming, and I can't BELIEVE how disciplined you must be to get all this sewing done in the midst of everything else. Thank you for the chance to possibly have a lovely little pom-pom confection to live with!
This weekend we will be cleaning house, canning (or freezing) peaches, and teaching piano lessons. emmillee(at)gmail(dot)com
I love your blog! I have been reading it for over a year now. I have made so many buttercup bags, and I am super excited about this one. Hi Rae! This bag is so darling, I would take it EVERYWHERE! This weekend, I am: going to a meeting, going to a birthday party in the park, having friends over for dinner, going to church, and then…taking a nap! And somewhere in there, grading some lab reports – I am a high school science teacher, too (chemistry & biology, part-time online).

I will be spending my weekend designing new products for an upcoming craft sale. I'm so excited to get started. I'll also be working on plans for a girls night. And hopefully, I'll get to do something fun with my hubby this weekend too
Whew! It's gonna be a full weekend.

This bag is so cute! I would definitely use it because I don't have a purse right now, just a diaper bag.
My mom is coming to visit this weekend which will be fun. Maybe we will start the baby on solids, who knows?
Love your blog!

I'm going up north this weekend to help pull in the dock for the season. Bittersweet! I'll try and make the most of it by getting some "foresty" pictures of the kids wearing some handmade clothes!
I've only recently discovered your blog, but i'm hooked! These bags are awesome! I love the princess and pea fabric.

Cute bag! This weekend we're clothes shopping for my husband's new job (suits everyday), putting on a neighborhood BBQ, and I'll be attending a church function with the ladies. Also… taking care of a sick toddler and a (hopefully) not sick baby.
brianneandfam at yahoo dot com
I have been looking for the perfect sized bag to make. All the patterns I have seen are so big you could carry your child inside. I have been waiting for the pattern to be available, but if I can get one made by the Marvelous Rae, all the better!!! (Don't worry, I'll still buy the pattern:))+
Love the bag!! I've been working on orders, getting ready for a craft show and making stuff for a gift exchange. I would probably use this bag for my every day bag, at least for a while!
julie @ littledarlingdesigns.com
Goodness I have no idea how long I'v been reading your blog. It's been awhile though. I remember wanting to get involved in the first spring top week but didn't have the confidence in my sewing abilities at the time to make myself clothing. I was involved this year though!
This weekends plans include attending a bday party for a 1 year old and finish making the bday present to take to the party, 4 cute little ties! Then hubs and I are double dating with some friends. And last but not least Church on Sunday. We have morning and evening services so we practically live there especially since my hubby is the Pastor.
Have a great weekend and thanks for the giveaway!

We're headed to Hops and Crops this weekend. My husband found it and thought "Fall farm trip for the children and Brewery sampling for me? This could be the best weekend EVER." I couldn't agree more. (Better than his usual fall weekend pick of watching football all day while "watching" the children play/slowly dismantle my living room)
Love these bags!! We are going to the fair this weekend and I'm sure I'll be doing some sewing!
amy.chinagal@gmail.com
I'm moving this weekend! I can't wait to be all done moving. This is the 3rd move this year, but we just bought a house, so no more moving for a very long time!

Those bags are gorgeous, and a perfect size. Love the recessed zipper.
I think this weekend, I will be working(only one hour, lucky me), and then I will head to the crafty/sewing room to make up some cute skirts for the girls for church. Or maybe some jackets for the family.
And if there is time, a marching band competition. And some football.
Wow, sounds like a packed weekend. Hope you have fun!

I'm hopefully going to a local quilt show tomorrow. Depends on if the toddler is in a good mood or not come morning. No sense in dragging a toddler having a "terrible 2" moment out in public.

I love the fabric you used!! My pregnant sister is coming out to visit this weekend and I'm hoping to fill her up with cozy, fall food and maybe do a little sewing and jam making. Giving her a taste of the country life!
Oh I love them all!
This weekend: We are going to the beach! Chances are it will be gray and drizzly, but that won't stop us from building sand castles and flying kites… we just may be bundled up so much that if an onlooker saw us they might think we were in a snowstorm, HA!

This week-end will be fabulous because it is my favorite time of year. We WILL do many things outside like picking apples, hiking, playing in the creek, exploring a pumpkin patch, taking a hayride or some such thing. I read that fall in Michigan lasts 40 days and I plan to enjoy each one–outside.
I'd use the bag every day. I am an orange fanatic and the pom-poms make my heart very happy. The bag will travel with me to all sorts of fabulous events and will always include my wallet, my coupons, a diaper + wipes, and one extra outfit for Penny. Perfect size.
I've been reading the blog for as long as I've known you've had it.

Having a baby has caused me to break out the ol' sewing machine and get busy. This weekend I'm going to get started on my daughters Halloween costume. I've been loving your blog ever since I discovered buttercup bags and the first mentions of big but baby pants!
Weekend plans include: shoebox diorama of the forest habitat; book report character interview; creation of a Saint Joseph costume for All Saints Day report; a nap, please; geeking out over the recessed zipper and longing for a tutorial. Oh please! Sewing pants for a not so little diapered butt. Oh, and flu shots. Wheee! civengrmomATcoxDOTnet
I have been participating in kids clothes week, though a two day power outage backed that up a bit. I stumbled across your site about four months ago thanks to your itty-bitty dress pattern, and I have been following it like crazy ever since!

Another beautiful bag! I have followed your blog daily (sometimes twice when desperate for diversion or inspiration)for a couple of years now. I was a new sewer and your buttercup bag tutorial is how I learned to sew and have never looked back! Except to get your backpack patter for my 5 and 4 year old girls… I'm going to chillax with said girls this weekend after a long week at school…. Hope you have a great weekend too!
This weekend consists of picking up broken flower pots from the crazy wind, sewing and helping my awesome birthday-girl friend decide between a Mac laptop or desktop. Obviously her husband rulllzzzzz! Thx for the op. to win these GR8 bags!

The weather here has been in the 90s!!! If it's cool enough we'll be cooking s'mores outside tonight with my love and babies! I'm anxious to share the joys of melted marshmallow with my children!
Hey Rae, I've been reading your blog for a long time. My sister has the same last name as you – is that interesting? I'm just trying to decide how to quilt the New Wave quilt using Wheels fabric that I made for my DIL and our soon to be second grandchild – a boy!!
marykolb(at)charter(dot)net
I absolutely love these bags! I'm hoping to win one, but if not I guess I'll be making one!
This weekend I get to spend some extra time with my mom and sister. I can't wait!
kellishimek AT gmail DOT com
Happy Friday Rae! This weekend, I am finishing up my daughter's DMK Peter Pan Collar Coat I've been sewing with From and Igloo's Sew A Long. I would totally give this bag to my baby sister who recently found out she is having twins! Amongst other symptoms is her inability to get comfortable sleeping and I think the Princess and the Pea print would make her smile
kestlynl at yahoo DOT com
Adorable bag, I'd love to pair it with a little dress for spring!
This weekend I'm going to Ikea to pick up stuff for a sewing space! I'm a college student so I don't have much room at all, but there's a corner that's crying out for a little table with fabric and notions storage. I can't wait to have a designated space so I won't have to pack up every time I have to do homework!

I'm off to the Little Red Lighthouse Festival here in NYC this Saturday! I've been looking forward to it for a year now. (And I've read your blog for that long, as well!)

we're having a garage sale. (hold me.)

I'm a sucker for anything made with corduroy! The light blue is fabulous. I would take this bag as my purse whenever I get some mommy alone time and can ditch the diaper bag. Usually just a trip to Target or Costco by myself (leaving the little ones home with daddy), but who's judging?

Mostly a mom weekend – lots of family activities. Which would definitely be spruced up by a cute bag, in stead of a diaper bag:)
Love, love, love the bag. It looks like it has some great texture to it. Great.
We're heading to my mil's house for the weekend. I'm putting on my happy face (going to try to think postitive thougths and maybe I'll win).
You can find me at sames5 at verizon dot net.
The name of this bag really speaks to me. It reminds me of my brother who lives in Japan. I love the color and the little whimsical detailing. If I got to take this bag and show it a good time I'd probably take it shopping!

I love the design of this bag! Will be on a short lil road trip this weekend so I'll have my crochet with me instead of my sewing machine. Love your blog–been reading now for bout a month! (adrienneyust at hotmail dot com).

this weekend we are taking our yearly photos of our girls (ages 2 and 11). we're headed to a forested park with views of the city below. we'll take a bunch of balloons and a little wooden bench as our props. let's hope the toddler cooperates.
i won't shy away from bribery.
thank you!

let's see… tonite & saturday, we get to cram in two rounds of tae kwon do testing, our elementary school's fundraiser auction, a birthday party, a soccer game, and our church's general women's broadcast (i'm looking forward to this one the most). it's going to be a blast!

I love the design of this bag! Will be on a short lil road trip this weekend so I'll have my crochet with me instead of my sewing machine. Love your blog–been reading now for bout a month! (adrienneyust at hotmail dot com).
This weekend my husband and I are taking our handsome little 5 month old boy to Kingston to visit some friends. It will be nice to get out of Toronto for a bit. That Bonsai bag looks like the perfect solution to my using-my-diaper-bag-as-a-purse dilemma

This weekend by baby boy is turning 4! We are having his birthday party at the local park and going to get sugar high on cake and ice cream! Love the bag.

oh so pretty, i'd love to win it. i've been reading your blog since i found your spring top tutorial on sewmamasew probably a year ago, i finally got some fabric to make it, maybe i can finish it this weekend, maybe..the pleats are hard.

I love these bags. I am taking my beginner sewing class tomorrow all day. Can't wait! So, maybe the rest of the weekend will be spent sewing. I found your blog about a month ago and have been reading it since.

Its the pom poms that get me with this bag! Love them!
I started reading when someone else linked to the Buttercup Bag pattern. When I made that sucker and it turned out as advertised with minimal cursing, I was hooked on you as a blogger and/or miracle worker. Usually, patterns and I tend to fight but yours was a DREAM! And free? Too good to be true!
Since then I've churned out several Buttercups for family and friends who adore them as much as I do.

Such a cute bag! This weekend will be MORE unpacking from our recent move, and hopefully some relaxing too. And I checked my RSS reader in Thunderbird, looks like I have been a reader of yours since October 2008! steve88xjsgirl AT gmail DOT com
This weekend is far too busy. My boyfriend's parents will be visiting us… so they will need to be entertained while the boyfriend is at work. Saturday is the town-wide garage sale where I live. And somehow I have to find the time to make a corduroy tie and skirt. Because somehow I have no corduroy clothes.
Also I don't have a corduroy bag so winning this would be lovely.

i've made the buttercup bag and the itsy bitsy dress and both were raved over. i would love to own this new creation of yours and would brag to all my craft friends about winning it. thanks for the great giveaway
i have been reading your blog since sometime in june of 2008 (i think it was spring top week at the time). i don't remember how i found your blog but i bookmarked it due to fabulousness and it started the slippery slope that is now craft blog addiction. i love your creativity and your sense of humor and i get really excited when i check in and there is a new post
We are about to embark on a family bike ride to kick off our weekend–then it is full-on fall festivals, apple picking and corn mazes for us tomorrow! Love the bags!! YUMMY!
I have this mother-in-law that I've been racking my brain on what to get for her, and she would LOVE this bag.
Meanwhile, she's watching the LO tonight so that we can go camping and sleep under the stars. (I hate sleeping out where the animals can come sniff you while you're asleep, but that's what the hubby wants.)
I met your blog through MADE and have been following ever since!

I would love this bag, but I do fear that my four year old daughter would try to steal it, it's so cute. It would have to be a 'stealthy mom goes out with out kids' bag. It looks like it would fit a knitting WIP perfectly, so maybe for late night knitting at the LYS. That is as soon as Lydia, a few weeks younger than Clementine, is easier on her papa sans mama.
Such a cute bag-love the pom poms! I've been reading since the "All about the boy" event and I would use this purse everyday to make all my friends jealous!

Your blog was one of the blogs that inspired me to start really sewing. I am anxiously awaiting for you to release this pattern, I can't wait to make one! (and hopefully I win this one!)
I love this bag! I am going to go enjoy a potatofest in a nearby town!
Man… too many people want in on this one!!! I just love this bag – love the way the Heather Ross works with the corduroy. I will be hiking, visiting an old friend, and working on another friend's 40th b-day quilt! Can't wait — also it's supposed to cool down here, bring it on!!
Ooh, I so want a new bag that doesn't have to hold diapers! This weekend I'm going to go apple picking with my kids and my mom, take my son to his soccer game (four year olds playing soccer seriously make me laugh!), and try to take a nap (since my ob-gyn thinks I need more rest)!

hey rae–i've been reading your blog ever since we met at the weekend sewing workshop–you may or may not remember that i LOVED your bonsai bag & was asking if you sold the pattern! this weekend i'm taking my little man to a harvest festival where there is sure to be good food, hay rides & animal petting–fun stuff!

I'm going to a pool party with my youngest son, then 3 soccer games tomorrow, one I'm coaching. My MIL and SIL are coming over. Then church on Sunday. Relax…maybe. If I can find a minute!! =)
How cute are those! I've been following you since you did the Buttercup bag – that was a must make, and I loved it. BTW, are you going to the Sewing Expo in Novi this weekend? I'll be there all day tomorrow, can't wait!
I LOVE this bag! This weekend I'll be packing for a trip to Philadelphia with my husband and boy #2. Boy #1 is going to be spoiled by grandmas. If I got the bag in time, I'd take it there!

No huge plans for this weekend, although I am really looking forward to it. I am going to take my 9 month old to see her daddy conduct the marching band at her very first football game in a few hours. Tomorrow will be a lazy day with the family that will be broken up by a quick trip to the beauty college. One of my friends is in school there and needs a model. Wooo Hoo I get to be a model!! :-p Maybe I won't come home with pink hair.
This weekend my hubby's out of town so I get to go visit with my mom and enjoy the fall colors out at her house.
I'm working on some serious renovations at my new house this weekend eek!
jennadixie at jamesonphotos dot com
I am a new reader, and this weekend if the weather is nice we are taking a fall foliage ride to Northern Maine to see the view and hopefully get nice photos too. Also plan on catching up on housework and blogging and watching a movie with hubby and my daughter.

I love the bag. I would take the bag to the park with my daughters then to the coffee shop afterwords.
isenbergersfriesnburgers at gmail dot com. I've been reading since you were featured on the other Made blog. I made a banner with my son's name like the one you made for your husband's b-day in '08. Princess and the pea fabric is cute.
I will carry my chihuahua around in the bag. He's small and would fit nicely next to my wallet. That way I could sneak him into stores with me. jeanette dot shapiro at gmail dot com
Ohhh, I better get my name in now….I'm the canadian who's crying that I can't enter the other giveaways….wahhhhhhh! I'll pay my own shipping???
Fingers crossed for this one. this weekend I'll be seen haunting and prowling Ikea like a starving, raving mad woman, as excited as a kid on xmas morning. yep, I'm finally revamping my little condo to now make my dining area obsolete and turn it into a sewing wall. need to buy out ikea to revamp it and actually have a place to sew in my home. And yes, that is much more important than my family having somewhere to eat on…muahahah, you understanad right Rae???
I could wear this purse everywhere, I need it.
Hope your weekend is great too
I don't think I could love this pattern more! And this is my favorite of all you've posted. I LOVE pom-pom fridge with an unnatural passion.
I've been following you for about a year and a half-ish. I think I grew up in the general area of MI in which you live and adore your quirkiness.
This weekend I will be mowing the lawn (boo!), hitting up the local art market and farmer's market (yea!) and taking time to knit on a cardigan I started (my first).
Hope you and your family have a great weekend, too! =]
May end up at the university of Utah game this weekend. If not, hanging out with my hubby, who works too much, and my baby, because I work too much.

Howdy! I've been reading this fabulous blog since the Dawn Of Time. Or a few years. You have inspired me to start sewing clothing more! THanks so much!
This weekend I am catching up on sleep and studying for midterms. I have 5 classes this semester and they are killing me. But in the best possible way. When i get a break from homework, I'll totally strut around town with this cute little bag.

I totally need this bag… you should just see the sad state that my current purse is in.

I found Made By Rae when my sister told me about your toddler backpack pattern. I bought the pattern that day and made my tot a backpack…she now uses it proudly at preschool! Anyway, I love the Bonsai Bag! I'd use it for those times when I actually get to leave the house without the kids and the diaper bag!

We are on a quest for sustainable living, getting out of the big-box stores, getting things closer to the source. so far it has been food, soon I will get clothing/accessories onto the list as well, trying to be more resourceful and make instead of buy… check out our blog http://www.homemadecrackers.blogspot.com
so this weekend will either be apple picking or planting garlic.
So this purse would definitely add some excitement to my life and have lots of field trips to attend.
seriously.
OH… And I just noticed that only one giveaway to Canada… BOOOO..

I adore this print. I would use it while toting my baby girl one hip and arm and the bag on the other.
Love the cute bag! Great work as always!
owlybaby@yahoo.com
I have been reading since summer 2009. I love the bright colors of your photos, and of course, the craftiness. The self-deprecating humour cracks me up too.
This is an absolutely ADORABLE bag!!! Corduroy is my all time favorite fabric and I love the combo you've created! I'm not a big purse carrier, so this would probably serve as a diaper bag for me.
I've been following your blog for sometime now….I think after stumbling across it during a focus on lil' boy projects. Always enjoy what you have to offer…and especially love your fun flair that shows throughout your blog, beginning with your adorable intro pic!
Thanks for the fun!

I love these bags!!!! I have been following your blog for almost 2 years. I started after having my daughter, Carly-Capri. I am due to have a second in November!! How scary!
I am madly sewing Halloween costumes this weekend to finish and put in the mail. Thanks for the giveaway. I just made a Princess and the Pea set and this would be perfect to keep it in.

I've been reading Made by Rae for just a week or two, but you are so inspiring! I just finished canning peaches, so I'll be spending sometime this weekend cleaning out my tiny pantry so that I have some place to put them. This weekend, I'll also be contemplating making a skirt out of an old pair of jeans and watching some college football.

Hi Miss Rae!
So our weekend is going to consist of me sitting by my phone, biting my fingernails, since my husband and I just put a bid on our first house! *Fingers crossed, fingers crossed*
Also, I just (finally) started writing a blog and would love if you checked it out!
emily.schildhouse AT gmail DOT com
I just LOVE this bag! My daughter Keira would love carrying such a pretty purse when we go out the Farmer's Market…and who knows, I might be able to use it, too!
I'm so happy I found your blog about 6 months ago. All your projects and ideas keep me motivated:)

I've been reading Made by Rae since I discovered and started following craft blogs. I got hooked with your Celebrate the Boy month. Was that February? Anyway, love, love, love your blog!
I'm on the beach, so I think a sandcastle festival and a seafood festival nearby are in order for the weekend. I'm off work and so want to get to enjoy my kiddos!
Thanks for the giveaway.

Let's see…this weekend we're getting MORE dirt (6 yards, not just 5 like last time!) Women's conference, church, probably some babysitting thrown in, hosting Sunday dinner…and when did I start reading/talking to you?? It was years ago, at least. I think you commented on one of my first posts, which means I had commented on one of YOUR posts when you were small enough to have the time to comment on the blogs of everyone who stopped by yours
Oh, and then I picked your brain to pieces trying to figure out how to open an Etsy shop…then I got to bully all of your sewing friends into keeping up on their judging spreadsheets…fun all around!
This is a great bag! I just started reading your blog a few weeks ago and love it! We have so many things coming up in the next few months – birthdays and baptisms… this bag would be a great accessory (so much better than a diaper bag) to my outfits!

This weekend is a busy one for us. First a birthday party then the zoo with family and we are ending the weekend with the circus.

This weekend I am building a set of a room to take photos of….but I had better get off the computer and get my butt into gear!
I would love to take the bag to a fairy-tale pajama party for adults….I just need to be invited to one now!
thouraya13@hotmail.com
Hi Rae!
How are you doing? I've been following your blog for the last few months, and have been sooo inspired by all your creations. I've recently purchased some fabric and hope to make some "big butt pants" soon!
This weekend is my mom's 50th birthday! We are celebrating her birthday Saturday night, and having a surprise party for her next Saturday. Then Sunday, my sister-in-law and I are heading over to church and then spending the day with family and friends. Should be fun and relaxing!
The bag would go everywhere with me. I would probably use it as a diaper. I always have used large purses as diaper bags because they are much cuter!
I blog as well! Not nearly as much as you, but you can check me out at www dot lifeplusbaby dot com. You can email me rebeccafacas at gmail dot com.
Thanks! And I hope you have a great weekend as well!
We are at the beach house this weekend just hanging out and realxing. I love your blog! It's one of the first ones I started reading when I discovered blogs about a year ago. I was hooked!!!! I would use this bag on our trip to visit the in-laws in LA. I always need more room in my purse to tote around all the extras you carry around with you on trips. My purse is never big enough for all of it.
I think this bag is the cutest thing! (I am biased as I have bit of a bag addiction).
This weekend I will be frantically catching up on orders for my shop and packaging and shipping! I am also taking time tomorrow to spend a day with my almost 4 year old, just a 'Mommy and Me' day.
I too will do Kermit arms, if I win. Might even send you a photo
Ive been reading for probably a good 2 years already! Great bags!

This is such a sweet and fun bag! Thanks for your hard work and inspiration

This weekend has already started with sewing and will continue down that wonderful road. So far tonight, I've made a leg warmer type bandage thing out of an old sock for my dog who WILL NOT leave a sore on his leg alone. Worked like a charm. Next I made some baby doll P.J.s for my little girl's beloved baby JUST in time for bedtime as promised. I ran PJ clad baby in RIGHT as she was nodding off. Next on the agenda, Bigg Butt Baby pants. Nope, not kissing butt. It was REALLY on the agenda. My little man is turning one and needs monster themed pants for his monster party. Can't find any in stores. Mama and your wonnderful pattern to the rescue. Have a great weekend!
Hi Rae! Well, with the recent arrival of baby #2 I'll mostly be changing diapers this weekend, with a couple trips to the playground thrown in for the older one
I think this bag would make me feel cute even when I haven't showered and have my hair in my "new mom" ponytail!
kellylcostas@gmail.com
This weekend I hope to get a run in and finish quilting the baby quilt I'm working on. The baby is due next week so I guess I'd better get moving!

Hope you have a great weekend too.

afer the mad frenzy of kindergarten prep sewing… I would love to RECEIVE something handmade! This sewist seems to always forget herself…
This weekend is all about the kids. We will be going to a little festival nearby. I have to do both of my little girls hair. (joy) and church on sunday. I have been reading your blog since Feb. 2010. It keeps me coming back.
Let's see, this weekend, we are going to our local Arts Market (and I would take the bag there, so everyone could ask me where I got such a lovely bag) and then Sunday we will probably take the girls swimming….yes, it's still in the 90's here in Florida. I can wish for the cool Fall weather, but it's just not going to happen.

Love the bag! I would use it EVERYDAY~! To work – I would fill it with cds to listen to at work and yummy goodies to snack on and share~
Also this would be a great carry all for when my son and I go out. I hate diaper bags~!
Wow 303 posts! My e-mail is laurenqcassidy@gmail.com and I have been reading your blog for over a year now and I am always inspired by your projects. I love the buttercup bag and have about 3 at home and have made others for gifts. I can't wait for the bonsai bag pattern!

By the way, I love your bonsai bags since you made the first one, they're adorable!

We are staying home this weekend. We have a lot of work to do before Winter hits. We will be putting up a fence, painting some sheds, and cleaning up some brush.
We are also potty training or almost 2 year old daughter, so we are sticking close to the potty chair this weekend!
I have recently found your blog, so I haven't been following that long.
I love your blog and I love this cute purse. It wil be so nice to carry a purse instead of a purse/diaper bag.

I think I found your blog during the Month of the Boy. I love it when folks make things with boys in mind as I have two sons (3 and 5) and my niece, who spends nearly all her visitation with us, is already 14 and not into the cute n' adorable little girl stuff. This weekend I am taking care of my dad (he has copd and congestive heart failure) so my mom can go visit grandmama on the occasion of her 86th birthday! I'm bringing my two little boys because Dad loves to sit and watch them play. Not too exciting but I'm thinking about bringing some fabric and cutting out a pilgrim quilt that I've been dying to make. I absolutely love the bag-I have a little princess and the pea fabric in my stash but I wasn't able to get the idea in my head out onto my cutting table. Don't you hate it when that happens?
Gorgeous!!
My hubby and I will be baptizing our goddaughter! So proud!

I'm in love. Your portfolio is amazing and I can not wait to his instructions. Would love to get one of the amazing portfolio, if you'll send to Israel. Yeap! I want it!
This weekend I'm hanging out with YOU! So you should definitely pick me because I made you banana blueberry cranberry pancakes. And because you love me. You already know my e-mail address, so just pretend I posted it.
this one's my favorite of your bags! i would take it ice skating this winter because that's the image the ice blue cord brings to me. oh, well & you know, we DO have all that ice down here in houston, don't ya know (that's me trying to do my best michigan accent). actually, there's a tented ice rink that's usually set up here & that's where i'd take my bag AND i'd make my hubs wear his cargo shorts for sippy cup storage.
can't wait to hear about the charity!
simply love this bag… too cute! this weekend i am baking pumpkin bread to take to a baby shower… the mum-to-be loves fall and what's better than warm pumpkin bread to remind you of fall (:

Love this bag. I need a casual bag, but it seems like all the casual bags around here are either at Target (I love Target…but sometimes their bags just aren't that interesting and use cheap fabric), or they're ultra-outdoorsy – like you'd find at REI. (Again, love REI, but some days I don't want to do that look.) I haven't gotten brave enough to sew any sort of bag beyond a tote. So I would really appreciate winning this one.

What a beautiful bag! I would take it with me on mine and my husband's six month anniversary date! I have the perfect dress picked out and this purse would look wonderful with it.
My husband and I spent the morning volunteering with about 50 people at my school digging up weeds, mulching and planting. Now the campus looks beautiful and we can relax for the rest of the weekend knowing that we've accomplished something.

Wow, love this bag!! I'm busy this weekend sewing up a storm, trying to get a bunch of baby stuff sewn to sell in my new Etsy store.

This weekend I'm celebrating my youngest nieces 5th birthday! It makes me a little sad to see her grow so fast!
I had no big plans this weekend until some supplies I ordered off etsy arrived this morning. So I have been happily making Christmas gifts (I like to plan ahead, what?) for all my girlfriends.
I'm hoping to make a visit to our local apple orchard to pick some apples!! Love the bags.

I loooooove Heather Ross fabrics. Am totally jealous of all the amazing things you have made using her fabric.
I am a critical care nurse and would use this beautiful bag to go with my less than beautiful scrubs. I'll be working this weekend and this bag would sure be a pick-me-up.

This weekend, im sewing, decorating, cleaning and hopefully sleeping!!
if i won your bag, i'd take it to my wardrobe, and show it to my other handbags, and tell them they'll never compete!!

OOOh how fun! I am just hanging out with my 3 boys while my husband works *sigh* on a Saturday…trying to keep the older two from killing each other (they are 3 1/2 and 2 years old). They keep hitting each other will pool noodles, and it seems to be holding them.

HEY! I just stumbled upon your blog while blog surfing for tutorials. I am not doing anything fun this weekend, just sitting here, pregnant, waiting to have a baby. I love your blog and will come back often!!
My goals for the weekend were to finish a donation quilt I have been working on for the past couple of days. I also had hoped to complete the top of a large quilt I designed — But I fell down the stairs and now am laid up with ice on my pedal foot and sharp pains shooting up my leg.
At least I can catch up on my blogs and heh – I would of missed this chance to win!!
Thanks for the opportunity.
I, too, am a proud Michigan girl – so I can't wait to see how next week's giveaways will work
.
The weekend it half over, so that makes for a lame-o comments, but I went to the American Sewing Expo today and tomorrow I'm having a dryer installed and maybe digging up some dead weeds. (Guess which day I like best???)

I have been reading for a while…not sure how long. This weekend I am a soccer mom. I love it. I also love that when I looked down at my arms this evening I had a farmer's tan. Sun is still shining over here in Pittsburgh.

Mañana, it's a trip to IKEA and organizing.

What a lovely bag! I'm going to be making some lists, cleaning out my spare room (for my office/studio), trying to stay cool in the current heatwave in California.

Hi! Well, so far, I'm spending the weekend sick in bed which kind of stinks but it does also mean that I'm getting time alone to read in various media, to knit a bit and, possibly best of all, to sleep! I feel lucky that I'm just sick enough to warrant bed rest, but not too sick to enjoy it. Have a great weekend yourself.
besides taking this fabulous bag EVERYWHERE-it's maiden voyage would be to show it off to my whole family when we go back to visit for thanksgiving. it looks like the perfect size for a carry-on everything bag. speaking of thanksgiving-this weekend i have been working on making my entire family (12 in all) christmas pj pants for family photos-yikes! my older sister thought it would be a great idea for us to have matching pj's for family photos . . .and i bit hook, line, and sinker! well happy sewing

I didn't know that you're a fellow Michigander- obviously I've only been follwing your blog for a few months.
I'm in GR so we checked out ArtPrize today- so cool!
Funny story for ya; earlier this spring my bestie tells me that she had just made a super cute shirt for herself, and I just had too. Turns out, we both made your Spring Ruffle Top! Great minds…

our family has done a bible discussion group with great friends, celebrated my husband's birthday, watched the grandparents show a mule in a horse show and tomorrow will be blessed to go to church twice! boy are we tired.

I have been a reader on and off for about a year. I found you by a google search for baby dress patterns, and made your bitty dress to bring home my daughter in. I would use the bag for girly things.
This is my first comment ever on any blog….If I win, mostly I'd just like to see how your bags are constructed I am a very hands on learner.
Hello fellow Michigander! I've been reading your blog for a few months now and I love all of the things you come up with! I would wear this lovely bag EVERYWHERE! I've been wearing a diaper bag for so long and I'm ready for something just for me
amcgmommy(at)gmail(dot)com
This weekend, yum! I'm turning some upholstery fabric samples into a chic skirt. Because I need a new skirt. Because I just lost 30 pounds. And because I need a new skirt. Who doesn't need a new skirt?
Oh, also making superhero capes for a birthday party.

My hubby is away for the weekend, so it's just me and the kiddo's having some fun! A little Farmer's Market action today and tomorrow, I think we'll go to the zoo! I love the bag, the only problem? I've got 3 girls who also like bags and if I win I may have to wrestle it out of their hands : )
So, today I bought a little Singer sewing machine for my 5 year old daughter. She has been so jealous of the sewing that I have been doing lately (including your buttercup bag) that she really wanted to do it too. What a proud Mamma I am to see my little girl sew her first little pouch all by herself!
Anywho, would love to have this bag (can't wait to buy the pattern!)

Hi, I am Madeleine and I am five. My Mum has been reading Made by Rae for about a year now. I noticed that your bag has the Princess and the Pea fabric in it. It is one of my favourites. Mum made me a green felt pea to put under the mattress of my bed so I can pretend to be the Princess. I often wake up black and blue! If I were lucky enough to win this bag I would take it to the shops and pretend to be a real teenager. Thank you for this lovely competition, love Madeleine maryanneDOTdockerATgmailDotcom
I would love to take it with me on my upcoming first ever over-seas trip with the hubby. He's going for business, I'm going for fun!
When I first discovered your blog I OCD'edly read to the very first post, and have been reading ever since. The bag would go everywhere I went during the weekend!
Cheers!

I ADORE this bag! What I would do is take it with me to my college classes since I am back in school now and show it off to all of the young ladies who I am sure would be SO jealous!
It really is a great bag and the pom-poms are rockin'!

to bad i live in the Netherlands! So: Don't pik me! Don't pik me!
This weekend my kiddos and I attended the "Candy Dance" in Genoa, NV. SO MUCH FUN! More crafty things than I imagined there could be in such a small town. As for the bag… I would totally take it on my trip to CO (at the end of next month!!) to visit the person who taught me how to sew… Awesome bag!! Thanks for sharing!
SUPER cute bag, Rae! I've been reading your blog for just a month or so.
This weekend is a total win. equal parts work and play. Yesterday was "work". I recovered all of my dining room chair pads with new kickass fabric. Then I water-sealed my picnic table. Then walked the dog and made dinner. Then I collapsed.
Today is "play". Catching up on blogs this morning before a 1PM date with my 6-year-old niece, Libby, to see the Mary Poppins touring show.

Let's see if I can answer all of the questions…
I've been reading your blog for at least a year and a half. Found it because of your cute Buttercup bag pattern…
This weekend is a mix of work and chores… nothing exciting unfortunately.
I'm picturing my daughter using this bag to carry all her stuff for school.(Her birthday is coming up in a week.) And all of her friends admiring how cute it is…

What cute bags! I definitely know what I'd use it for. In Oct. we are going on a 7 day cruise, getting off in 3 ports. This would make a great tote to carry my loot in! I don't buy really big souvenirs, but I like to have a bag big enough to carry them in. Makes it easier walking.
Thanks
This weekend I had a homeschool mom's luncheon which was awesome. Then today I had church this morning and then heading out for my girlfriend's son's birthday party at a local park with my kids. As far as where I would take it…probably not too far since my 17 year old daughter would take it as soon as it arrives. : )
I have your blog bookmarked and not sure how long I've been a reader but it's been a long time and it's one my favorite. THANKS!

Your work is beautiful and I've been following you for a long time. I'd carry this bag whenever I got a chance to ditch the diaper bag

What a gorgeous bag. I was actually here at Made by Rae looking for the Big Butt Baby Pants pattern, so I can get sewing for my 2 month old. He is baby #3, so I have done a really sad amount of sewing for him. Like almost none. Pack n play sheets. Hello, easy! I need to make him some cool stuff. Anywho, the bag is beautiful, I'd love to win it, but I'll totally buy that pattern when it comes out.
Thanks!

This weekend has been a busy (and cold weekend).
Between a fin date night, and a sharpie disaster (thank you toddler!), there hasn't been much relaxing time.
I can see that bag being perfect for my days out with a newly trained toddler, or even on a casual night out. It is precious with the princess print.
jessterlouw(at)hotmail(dot)com
This bag is too adorable. I would carry it everywhere! I'm a high school teacher, and I know the girls I teach would love this bag!
I've been reading and loving your blog for about a year and a half now. You inspire me to sew for my boys. By the way, I also have a son named E.
katehirtle AT gmail DOT com
Oh, my, my, my! This bag is fantastical! I love the colours (dead giveaway I'm Canadaian right there-hee hee) and I love the whimsy of the print! Right up my alley!
I am working this weekend *sigh*, but at least I can sit here and dream about strolling down along the waterfront on a crisp autumn afternoon and pulling my wallet out of that incredible bag to buy a white hot chocolate; or to an antique shop where I would hope to find a pretty old bauble or gem that I might pin to my already perfectly adorable bag!
Hope you're having a great weekend, too! Love, love, LOVE your blog! Thanks to http://www.sewplicity.blogspot.com for recently directing me your way!
Watching football and making reverse-able place mats for my mother in law…both things not really enjoying so far. I have been reading your blog religiously for the past month ever since I stumbled upon it! Looking forward to attempting so many of the great projects that you have…so inspiring!!! Oh and I love the bag too…my favorite of the bunch by far!

This weekend our family went to beautiful Vallecito, CO. The kids hunted for worms that we used as bait. We put the fish in a big bucket for the kids to look at for a while, then let them go back in the river. The kids love doing this!
Love this bag- super cute! Great for a family of 2 Waldorf inspired girls. SO far fall has been our summer. We went to our school's Festival of Courage, our girls dressed up in princess attire.( girls and our love of princesses) After that we went to the beach with several families and enjoyed a great day at the beach. Beer, frisbee and I actually went out into the ocean and swam in it! It was awesome. Amazing that I grew up around this area and had never swam in our ocean. p.s We are on the Monterey Penninsula Coastal California- not so hot weather or waters. Anyway, I could definitely use a new purse! The thing that I love most about it is that it is HAND MADE and super cute!
Thanks for chance!

We're finally getting some rain here in VA this weekend so the painting of the screened in porch will have to be replaced with sewing a cover for my hubby's ipod touch and baking some gluten free bread. Oh, and maybe making some soup since the temperature has dropped 30 degrees in 2 days.
This is an awesome bag! I would carry it to work. Hopefully my colleagues could assume that I'd finally ponied up and created something wonderful rather than simply using all my break time to peruse dreamy craft blogs. I work in an elementary school and the kids would all think I was super-groovy if I showed up with such a fab bag.

Ha ha, Kermit arms. And a toddler picking the winner- that is my kind of giveaway.
What did I do this weekend? Enjoyed a rare sunny day in the NW, spent time with my little ones, and smelled them a lot. Even the sticky-with-ice-cream parts. I might have licked those. I think I have been reading your blog for about 2.5 years? I remember when someone linked to it, and I thought, well, shoot, how come I wasn't reading Rae earlier? I think I would take your bag to Target. By myself. No kids. And I might shake it a bit to make that trim shimmy! I love pom-poms.
Wish I could say I've had an exciting weekend, but I have been preparing for a test in one of my grad school classes. Winning this bag would make my week so much better!!! Jamie JLLEWIS119 at g mail dot com
My highlight this weekend was going to JoAnns on Friday and saving $40 in coupons! YES!
It was coupon commotion and everything I bought had a 40% off coupon to go with it. YES! Of course…..I did still spend a chunk of change… but I SAVED!

YOu're giving them away?!! Sad for you, awesome for us:) I will take my dazzling bonsai bag to Disneyland with me! First REAL family trip since baby girl was born….wahoo! Plus, the lovely princess-and-the-pea fabric fits right into the 'magical world of disney'! THANKS RAE:)

I've had a busy day. Today was my 14 year old daughter's first juried art show at the Neptune Festival Youth Art Show. She took Special Merit Award and is only a 9th grade. Last year there were not any 9th graders to place. Very exciting day.
If I won the bag I'd take it to art shows & museums with my daughter and children's museums & zoos with the boys.

I went to the Country Living Fair in Columbus Ohio! This bag would have been great to carry around. Fits in with the vintage/handmade goods of the fair!!!
I have been visiting you for longer than I can remember
This weekend has been spent with me being exhausted, trying to get better by sleeping a lot, not so easy when I'm on my own with the kids but they've been okay with going to be earlier… mostly.
I love the bag, it's so pretty!
