Meg is at it again. She always comes up with the most ingenious ideas, it’s really quite astounding. Today we’re featuring the balance board tutorial she’s put together for Celebrate the Boy, and seriously, how much fun is this? I can see this keeping my boy occupied for a very, very long time:
Today our focus is on….underwear! I don’t know about you, but I find it tricky to find underwear for boys that isn’t covered with licensed characters.…
I have made a ton of (OK, fine: three) knit shirts for E in the past year so I felt like I should take it up a notch for Celebrate the Boy and come up with something that wasn’t a dress shirt or a t-shirt or a hoodie. Seems like that’s pretty much what’s out there for boys (which I can totally get excited about) but that wasn’t what I was going for here; I wanted something that didn’t scream “casual” OR “dressy.” And I think I got it. Today I have an exciting announcement and I’m thrilled and honored that I get to be the bearer of this news: Shelly Figueroa and Karen LePage have written a book about sewing for BOYS with Wiley Publishing and they’re here to give us a preview today! And can I say, it’s about time? Those of us who sew for boys have been bemoaning the lack of good resources when it comes to sewing for boys for years (in fact, that’s what gave Dana the — may I say– brilliant idea for Celebrate the Boy in the first place). It’s always wonderful and encouraging to see the sewing world bloom in this area and who better to write a book about sewing…
Our guest today is Care of Obsessively Stitching, who is a Boy Tutorial Queen with two boys of her own and a blog full of thoughtful, creative ideas for boys (she’s also got plenty of non-boy stuff as well). Care joined us last year with an army bunker play tent tutorial as part of her Tent Week tutorial series. Today Care is sharing her series of tutorials to make a set of plush Angry Birds for the boy in your life, big or small.
