Velveteen and voile scarf

It's 50 degrees today in Michigan. WOOOHOOOO!!! Perfect weather for my new, fabulous velveteen and voile scarf.

I have a big crush on this velveteen print by Anna Maria Horner, and ordered more of it than I probably should have from Laura right after we did that velveteen giveaway back in December. It's bad for me, those fabric giveaways. I see too much that I want. I still have dreams of making some curtains and covering some pillows in this print for our living room, just basic, to really show off the print. The problem with those ideas is that they are a little boring to execute, you know? I dread hemming rectangles, I'm afraid I'll fall asleep at my machine. I need some little elves ala "Elves and the Shoemaker" to come and finish them up for me at night. This project is rectangles, but no hemming, whee!! Just a little handstitching at the end, I can dig that. Gives me something to do while I watch Battlestar Galactica. OH NOOOOOO! Did I just admit, to the Entire Universe, just how much of a geek I really am? I think I just did.

You might remember I made a similar scarf with linen and Liberty lawn last fall; this time I made it to AMH's exact specifications in this post. A walking foot definitely helps keep the layers from sliding around, for sure.

A green striped shirt is probably not my first recommendation if you want to put together a fabulous look with this scarf. In fact, I would go so far as to say you should never go out of the house wearing these together. What can I say? I didn't feel like changing just to take a couple of pictures.I think the velveteens make a lovely scarf for spring when paired with the voile, not too warm, but still really cosy. Quick check of sponsor fabric shops: Charmstitch, Pink Castle, and Fabricworm are still carrying a number of the velveteens at the time of this writing if you're as into these as I am.
