Happy New Year! You thought I’d slept in after a late night of carousing and forgot to post today’s giveaway? No way dudes, we have kids. We do NOTHING for New Year’s these days. I just accidentally auto-posted it for 16:00 instead of 6:00, heh, so it’s up a little late today; so I’ll just leave it open a little later tonight than usual. Anyway…Happy New Year and I hope you had a chance to have a wonderful celebration!!
On the eighth day of of Christmas, my true love gave to me…eight maids a-milking, seven swans a-swimming, six geese a-laying, five golden rings, four colly birds, three French hens, two turtle doves and a partridge in a pear tree!
….and Rae gave to me a Lickety Split Bag sewing pattern!
I find I use this bag more than any of my other bags; it works as a shopping bag, for weekend overnight trips or trips to the beach, as a carry-on, and when I had babies it was always the diaper bag. It’s so satisfying to get so much use out of something that was so easy to make! This is also one of my favorite bags to make as a gift; it’s so quick and easy to sew! The Lickety Split is also a great quick beginner sewing project for those who want to get into sewing bags without having to suffer through a long fussy project.

One of the projects on my to-do list is to whip up a couple of simple bags to keep in my car for when I’m out shopping. I have so many plastic grocery bags around here because I feel so bad throwing them out. It would be much easier to just avoid bringing them into the house to begin with!
