Not much to say about this one except HEY LOOK I MADE THIS BEATRIX and YES IT’S A BIT OUT OF SEASON but WON’T IT BE LOVELY WHEN SPRING COMES AND I CAN WEAR IT? There’s something wintery about the color though, and anyway, the shorter the sleeve, the easier it is to layer a sweater over it. If the 40-degree days we’ve been having in Michigan this week are any indication, this will be seasonally appropriate by late February. Time to make myself a swimsuit?

Oh wait! I do have more to say about this top. I started this version (which is View A of the pattern, see handy view card below that Elli made) late last spring with the idea that it would coordinate with the View B I made out of this same voile fabric in a different color (blogged here) so that I could have a matchy-matchy photograph for the cover, see? But then, well…this one just didn’t get finished on time (it even ended up in that end-of-summer WIP post) and my Grand Plans never came to Fruition. Story of my life.

Beatrix / Made By Rae

The Beatrix Sewing Pattern can be purchased in my shop; the fabric is a lovely Anna Maria Horner voile that unfortunately is now out of print.

  1. So pretty on you!! Love the color too! I think you should admit that you are secretly thinking of spring!!! 🙂 I’ve got a short sleeve Beatrix waiting to be sewed. It’s one of my favorite patterns!

  2. Great shirt! I made 2 short sleeved Beatrix blouses and one lengthened to a tunic length and have been wearing them with leggings and jeans all winter. Perfect for layering. Great pattern. I have more planned.

      • Hi Rae I am hoping to do a year end blog in the next few days. It’s still January right? I have made so many versions of your patterns I am thinking a summary blog for each pattern to show all the versions. I will keep you posted if I get them done! The tunic length Beatrix is in my Instagram nursebean82. I made it in awesome cotton and steel and have another in the works. Works great with leggings.

  3. I love the colour and the stripes (you lined those up prefectly too!), it’s summer here it looks so light and comfortable I want one!

  4. I love this top – it reminds me of a blouse I owned almost 40 years ago. I remember asking my mom to do it up the back for me all the time – I could reach the upper & lower buttons but those middle ones were always a challenge. I love this blouse and in a light cotton for summer it’s perfect! Beautiful.
