After the last post I had an epiphany. You don’t really read my blog for the sewing, although that’s maybe how it started. Now you’re here for the baby pictures. You’re a bunch of Baby Junkies, am I right? Well here’s your fix for the day:
We’re back from Cancun, where I slathered SPF 70 lotion on myself and Elliot all last week and kept Clementine out of the sun completely. So we don’t look like we went to Mexico, but boy did we have fun. And wonderful, warm humid weather.
I had a crisis a couple weeks ago when I realized I really had no nice dressy things for dinners out (due to my post-partum body redistribution and slight weight…
I’m going to have to take back some of my words here, because look what fits???
I will concede that the pattern DOES actually fit a 0-3 month old, as my babe is (a rather large) 2 months and the top fits quite nicely. It works over a onesie since it’s a little cold outside, which is fine because that solves the V-neck issues as well…
And what’s even better than a cute baby dress? A SMILE. Something we’ve been seeing alot of around here lately, and how fun is this?

I’ve been dreading this post because I’m afraid I’m going to have to roast this pattern. This is the (so-called) “Easy Empire-Waist Top” from Little Stitches for Little Ones by the amazing Amy Butler. The top is in my opinion, absolutely adorable on paper, which is why I chose to make it in the first place, but it was an absolute nightmare to construct. I’m not sure if I just can’t read pattern instructions without pictures or what, but I kept reading and re-reading the instructions and scratching my head, trying something, tearing it out, trying it again…
Furthermore, I’m afraid it’s sizing is questionable at best, as my rather large newborn…
I’m pretty sure that last post set some kind of record on my blog for most comments received in the shortest period of time. I’m going to go ahead and say that was an ENTHUSIASTIC response to the Lickety Split Bag. And for those of you who have been sending me emails like “how much is it” and “when can I buy it?”, the current status report on the Lickety Split Bag is: has been scanned, will be available for sale as soon as is reasonably possible (given my current state and situation), with an option for commercial licensing for those wanting to make/sell them. So I’m so excited to finally post about this — Amber has been kind enough to provide us with a toddler-sized version of the Itty Bitty Dress Pattern (and HOW CUTE IS THAT with the teeny tiny version and big sister version together in this picture???). The pattern is really very high-quality and impressive (Amber’s hubby is scoring significant points for help in the Adobe department!).
Amber says that the pattern is about a 3T, as she made it to fit her older daughter who currently wears a combination of 2T and 3T. Be sure to check out the free onesie patterns she has on her blog…
I’m sorry I can’t come up with a more creative title than that. I’m tired from cleaning out the basement today and can’t think. Also I should apologize for some hideous photography in this post. But whatevs. The important thing is that I feel really productive for finishing so many little projects. So here they are in no particular order….drumroll please!

I actually made a couple smaller ones (pictured below) last summer by tracing a pocket diaper of Elliot’s. He outgrew those long ago and I’ve wanted to make some more large ones. The outside is waterproof PUL and the inside is white fleece. I stuff them with extra inserts I bought for my other diapers.…
Last week I made some pajama tops for Elliot with some knits that have been hanging around in my fabric stash since last summer. My fabric closet is about to explode and I’m feeling the pressure to sew away my fabric before I get sick of it. Case in point: I still have Amy Butler Gypsy Caravan prints waiting for a project (for those of you out of the loop, that was her first fabric line). Sad, I know.
I used one of Elliot’s shirts to make a lap-tee pattern. Seriously it is so much easier just to trace clothes that fit him than try and find patterns that do. However, the first shirt (the alien one) came out so ginormous I’m pretty…
