Fabric Inspiration & Giveaway: Honey Be Good

This giveaway is now closed. Thanks for entering!! The winner will be announced soon.

For today’s fabric inspiration, Karen at Honey Be Good recommends these lovely fabrics for Luna Pants:

IMG_2109

top left: Scattered Floral knit / right: Threads double gauze
bottom left: Wink poplin / right: Threads double gauze

As I’ve mentioned before, I love the idea of using knits for Luna and can’t wait to show you my knit pair! I can’t say enough wonderful things about the Cloud 9 knits (though, obviously, I am biased); they are so soft and are a great medium weight interlock. Double gauze is a favorite pick of mine for these pants, and poplin would work perfectly for a slightly more structured look.

Now for today’s giveaway! Honey Be Good has offered 3 yards of  Cloud9 Organic striped interlock (knit!) to one lucky winner. I have a pair of Lunas that I made out of knit fabric that I’ll show you next week, along with some tips for sewing Lunas with knits.

Leave a comment on this blog post by 2pm EDT tomorrow for your chance to win.

Fabric Inspiration & Giveaway: Robert Kaufman

This giveaway is now closed. Thanks for entering! The winner will be announced soon.

Today’s fabric inspiration comes from Robert Kaufman Fabrics! Perusing their amazing Instagram feed, I fell in love with a lot of the solids/semi-solids and yarn dyes. These would all sew up into lovely basic garments that you can wear with just about anything. I especially like all the neutral options they offer. Here are some of my picks for Luna Pants from their countless fabric collections:

Robert Kaufman fabrics for Luna

top left: Double Gauze Chambray Dobby / right: Manchester (new colors this season)
bottom left: Manchester Metallic / right: Essex Yarn Dyed linen-cotton

Robert Kaufman is giving away 3 yards of this Rustica Chambray to one lucky winner! I actually have a pair of Luna Pants in this exact fabric, and they’re so cozy. This chambray is super soft and flowy; it feels a little thicker than some other chambrays, but the loose weave makes them easy to wear.

Fabric Inspiration & Giveaway: Bobbie Lou’s

This giveaway is now closed. Thanks for entering! The winner will be announced soon.

For today’s fabric inspiration, we asked Chelsea, the owner of Bobbie Lou’s Fabric Factory, what she would recommend for Luna Pants. Here are her lovely pics:

bobbie lou's

top left: Flight double gauze / right: Limestone Fee voile
bottom left: Sunrise cotton lawn/ right: Mystery Food cotton lawn

Lawns, double gauze, and voile are great recommendations for Luna; they are lightweight and really comfortable to wear. I think all of these would be fantastic, and those pink octopuses…I love that she chose that one because I actually have some of that fabric set aside for a pair of my own. Definitely a statement pant, but I think that would be really fun for summer.

For today’s giveaway, Bobbie Lou’s has offered 3 yards of Swifting Flora voile to one lucky winner. Leave a comment on this blog post by 2pm EDT tomorrow for your chance to win.

Fabric Inspiration & Giveaway: Fat Quarter Shop

This giveaway is now closed. Thanks for all your comments!! The winner will be announced soon.

Thank you for all your comments on Monday’s Luna Pattern giveaway! The three randomly selected winners of are:

Julia, who said, “I love those pants. They look so comfy.”
Rebecca, who said, “Oh! I lurve the Luna pants! I’d love to sew a few pair for myself.”
Diana, who said, “I’d love to win :)”

Congratulations, ladies!!

One of the things that can be difficult when sewing pants is choosing a good fabric, so to kick off the Luna Pantsalong, I wanted to spend a little time providing some ideas for fabrics that will work well for the pattern. I’ve asked a few of my sponsors and a couple of my favorite fabric manufacturers for help finding fabrics (especially for those of you who don’t have a good local resource), so hopefully you’ll find these recommendations helpful. In addition, they’re each offering up a 3 yard cut of Luna-friendly fabric for a giveaway (see below for instructions to enter).

FQS 4 fabric recstop left: Ragged Daisies / right: Distressed Triangles
bottom left:
Casted Loops / right: Pointelle Rings

Today’s recommendations come from my sponsor Fat Quarter Shop. In addition to fat quarters for quilters, they also have a large selection of fabric by the yard, including many lawns and other fabrics that would work great for the Luna Pants! When I asked them what they would recommend for Luna Pants, they suggested these soft, lightweight Denim Studio denims from Art Gallery, shown above. I love the simple prints and these would definitely work well with the pattern.

This giveaway is now closed. Thanks for all your comments!! The winner will be announced soon.

Today Fat Quarter Shop is also giving away 3 yards of Hello, Bear voile to one lucky winner. This subtle print on a lightweight fabric would also be lovely as a pair of pants, and the rest of this collection (by Bonnie Christine for Art Gallery) would also work nicely for the pattern. Just leave a comment on this blog post by 2pm EDT tomorrow for your chance to win!
