Growing Up Sew Liberated Book Tour Stop: PJs for Elliot
I nearly had a heart attack yesterday around noon when I suddenly remembered that I was slated for a book review post today for Meg McElwee’s new book Growing Up Sew Liberated. I clicked over to Elsie Marley (the first stop on the tour) and laughed outloud because she had chosen exactly the same thing from the book that I had chosen to make for Elliot! Great minds think alike I guess. And hers are absolutely adorable and lovely by the way!!!
Anyway. I was thrilled to be asked to review Growing Up Sew Liberated…
Want to help us CELEBRATE THE BOY?
Hi friends! Today I’m thinking about February. Does that sound strange? Well to me it’s not. Dana of MADE and I have already decided that we’re doing another Celebrate the BOY series in February 2011, and when something so involved has to happen in February you would be crazy to start talking about it in January. You start TALKING about it in October, you start THINKING about it in November, you try to just SURVIVE December, and then in January you actually start DOING some of the stuff you want on the blog in February so that you don’t actually die when it happens. See?
For those…
I think I might have a problem
I visited Shiisa Quilts in Bloomington Indiana last weekend as part of my life-goal of visiting every brick and mortar quilt shop in the continental USA before I die (kidding. sortof…) and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. Owner Janet has stocked her shop with fabrics and sewing patterns by some of my favorite designers (Oliver+S, Figgy’s, Craft Apple). I ended up walking out with this:
Those mermaids by Heather Ross? DIED when I saw those. And the Anna Maria Horner? Can’t ever have enough of that. And the Jay McCarroll prints? I happen to have it on good authority that there will be another…
Lion Raglan Tee for the Boy
Don’t fall out of your chairs…its a BOY POST! Yes, it has been soooo long. Someone even commented on my blog in May or June and pleaded “don’t forget the boys!” I haven’t forgotten, but somehow sewing for the baby girl just ended up dominating my summer. (And pssst: for a load of other fantastic sewing projects for boys, you can also check out the Celebrate the Boy posts from February 2010).
I probably split myself about 50/50 when it comes to using a pattern or making one up. But either way, I have always felt that it…
Rae’s Prairie Girl Top
Hello everyone! One of the advantages of having this be my blog is that I can divert your attention from voting for today’s tops by showing off one of mine. The other advantage of course is that I didn’t have to have them all finished by Friday night. And really, neither did you. If you’ve just finished up or you finish one this week, please post it to our Spring Top Week Pool! It won’t get entered in the contest anymore, but we’ll still get to see what you’re working on and be inspired by your patterns and ideas.
Right now in my sewing room there is a heap…
