French Terry Citrine

Here’s another version of my upcoming pattern, Citrine! This particula one is one of my favorites because this was the first one I made with a different color fabric for the bindings, and I really love the contrast between the two colors - cream and tan.

UPDATE: Citrine is here and is now available in my shop!

I jokingly call this version my #sadbeige cardigan (if you’re a regular reader of my Friday Fave series to understand this reference, but the gist is that it makes fun of the current trend of only using neutral tones for decorating and dressing), but actually this cardigan is not sad at all, in fact it’s really pretty fun, especially with the variegated ribbing and fun sleeves. I will admit that it’s a bit outside my normal wheelhouse as I usually tend towards bright colors and #dopaminedressing.

The main fabric for the cardigan is a stretch french terry in color “toast” which was gifted to me by Isee Fabric, and their variegated rib knit in cream.

I’ve been buying knits at Isee for the past few years; it’s a great range of organic knits in lots of fun pastel colors, and I like that most (but not all) of their knit fabrics are organic and sold by the 1/2 yard, which is especially nice when you’re buying rib knits where you need smaller quantities for neckbands and such.

The colors are shared by the different types of knit they have, so you can order matching jersey, rib knit, waffle, or stretch terry, whatever, but the entire palette really coordinates well, too, so mixing and matching colors can be fun. I previously purchased their french loop terry (not stretch) to make a different cardigan, so I was interested in trying out the stretch terry this time. It has a bit of spandex in it for recovery, is medium weight and very soft. The result is a SUPER comfy cardigan.

One modification I made to the pattern (which is otherwise a straight-up view B - see the Citrine page for other blog posts and more photos of both views) was to lengthen the body by 1” at the bottom of the front and back. I did this because I am a little taller (5’8”) and I wanted to see if the length was better on me.

Verdict: I think when I wear it open, I like the shorter length better, but when I button it, the extra length is good for me so that it’s not too high on me, if that makes sense.

Citrine is coming soon - we expect it to launch it early next week! We’re putting the finishing touches on this pattern, so check back or sign up for my newsletter to know exactly when it drops.
