This knitted Droplet Capelet — finished late last year — joins my growing collection of knitted shawls, all of which are adding a layer of cosiness and warmth to my daily outfits. I recommend this pattern if you’re looking for a nice beginner shawl project, especially if you intend to knit other lace patterns.

Here is my second finished make of 2021: neon pink socks.

I am hopelessly drawn to bright colors, and had purchased this Madelinetosh Twist Light Sock Yarn from Spun (my LYS in Ann Arbor) before I knew I wanted to knit socks. I used a relatively simple sock pattern in MAKING magazine Dots issue by Mary Jane Mucklestone, omitting the colorwork once I realized that you can’t do colorwork when you’re also knitting two at a time magic loop from a single skein (yet another knitting lesson learned).

My first make of 2021 is this colorful brioche shawl. I used the Briochealicious shawl pattern by Andrea Mowry. I have wanted to try brioche for some time but felt completely intimidated by it, but turns out 2020 was my year to learn brioche.
