Weekend in Vermont

Every few months or so, Mr Rae and I drop the kids off with his parents and go somewhere fun for the weekend. Last weekend it was Vermont, where we stayed at Blueberry Hill Inn, where I’d been wanting to return since I first visited as a participant at Heather Ross’ fantastic Blueberry Hill Weekend Sewing workshop two years ago. Some pictures from our weekend:

Sunday afternoon we headed over to Burlington where I gave a short talk on sewing women’s garments for the Nido 3rd Anniversary Bash. There were so many people there and it was fun to meet new faces and see others again, many of them wearing Washi Dresses (yay! I can’t tell you how incredibly fun and gratifying it is to see people enjoying the pattern so much!). There were incredible drinks and snacks as well, including these amazing multicolored macarons which apparently I could not stop photographing.
Rochelle (who works at Nido and blogs at Lucky Lucille — if you like sewing women’s garments you should definitely check it out) wrote a fantastic post about the party, so be sure to check out her post (click here). She was kind enough to let me borrow a few pictures of me yapping my jaw:

Here I am with Rochelle (who is sporting her hand-embroidered !! shot cotton Washi Dress):
It was so great to see Ashley (of Film in the Fridge) and Phiona (owner of Nido) again!!!
Some more lovely shots of Nido:
Thanks for a fantastic weekend, Vermont!! We’ll be back.

WOW!! The Blueberry Hill Inn looks like an incredible place to stay!! I’d love to stay there someday. I know I’ve said it a million times already, but it was great to meet you and I truly enjoyed your “jaw yapping” at nido
p.s. thank you for the blog/photo love!!
Vermont looks gorgeous! That hand embroidered washi is fabulous! I’m glad you got away for a weekend!
will his parents take my kids for the weekend?
haha I know right? I am incredibly lucky to have them nearby. Something I really really appreciate!!!
Awesome getaway! Everything looked beautiful. Your one lucky gal:) I also like that B-Side Metalworks Sewing Machine Charm necklace;) Looks great with your Washi Dress.
I KNOW!!! Love it. We’ll talk soon.
What a great weekend (and great photos)! Wish I could have made it (we are also in New England). Have you ever read “A Farmer’s Alphabet” by Mary Azarian? I’m not sure if it’s still in print or not, but a friend gave me a copy, and that picture of the stove really brings it back. You should check it out–it’s beautifully Vermont.
omigosh blueberry hill looks like a dream! lucky lady to spend a weekend in a place like that with your fella.
um, could Rochelle BE any cuter? Also, do they have a small corner somewhere in Nido where I could pitch a tent and spend the night? Cuz I wanna live there.
Yeah, no she could not. And yes, totally want to live at Nido too!! We could be Fabric Hobos?
Looks fabulous…makes my heart ache to get back to VT…soon enough. Burlington is such a fun place.
You guys are sooo cute! And hand embroidered? Seriously? That is beautifully genius. Looks like a great place and a great time.
That’s it. I need a trip to Vermont. Right. Now.
Especially if it means a stop by Nido. So super cool.
What a fun weekend and a beeeautiful shop! And I love seeing “real-life” picture of bloggers. You get to see what they really look like when there isn’t time to get the lighting just right or make their lips look pouty
haha, what are you saying LYNN?? That I don’t look pouty in real life??? Hee
Dresses are beautiful; I love all the different takes on the same pattern. I guess I’m lucky – I live half way between Nido and Blueberry Hill – and Vermont is truly wonderful in the fall. Does Blueberry Hill still sell their cookbook? There is an awesome recipe for Gingersnaps that is a family favorite.
