The KCWC sew-off continues, with the third (and by far the easiest!) item, Heather Ross pajama pants. After the mini Washi, this one was a total breeze, thank goodness. Pajama pants are the BEST for making you feel like a sewing champ. They have two pieces, you can sew them up in about 15 minutes, and it’s hard to mess up the fit with an elastic waist.

This print was an instant favorite for me when I first saw Heather Ross’ new Nursery Versery line. I have something else planned with the grey piggies but I have to punch out this sew-off first, so we’ll see if there’s any time after that to make anything else.

The pant is just the basic two-piece pant pattern. I made the legs flare out a little because I wanted more of a fitted hip/waist, and I added a bunch of inches to the bottom and machine-basted the hem so I can take them out as she grows. This has come in sooo handy with other pajama pants, but the problem is that now Kristin has me beat on these because her pajama pants have the adorbsible moon trim (Can’t beat those pictures either…that first one has me dying of cute. And the picture where O is sucking his thumb? That isn’t even fair!!). I have a couple “roaring like a lion” pics though. Does that help?

The top she’s wearing here is a Flashback Tee, by the way, just finished yesterday as well. I did a flipped-to-the-inside bias trim on the neck that I’m liking alot. Will try to do a tute for that, it’s so easy.

Kristin and you should get your own TV show (or since I’m Edinburgh based the geographically right compliment would be a ‘Fringe show’); this is highly entertaining!

So perfect! I have those same two prints–couldn’t resist when I saw them! I’m not sure what I’m sewing with them–something for the spring, but I can’t wait to see what you do with the piggies!

  12. Kathy says:

Aah, big hems! Why didn’t I think of that? I just have my kids wear their “cropped pj bottoms” when they get too short.
