Tsuru and Geranium

I'm so excited to reveal a project I've had in the works now for a couple of months: combining the Geranium Dress Sewing Pattern with all of the Tsuru fabrics designed by Rashida Coleman-Hale for Cloud 9! This has been a fun collaboration between me, Karen LePage, and Rashida Coleman-Hale.

When Michelle of Cloud 9 Fabrics asked me whether I'd be interested in getting the Geranium Dress together with the Tsuru line, I said GIDDYUP LET'S DO IT and immediately started plotting and scheming. Which fabrics should go together with what look?

I loved the challenge of showcasing an entire line of fabric -- Tsuru includes 12 different prints -- with just one pattern. If any sewing pattern could do it, it would be Geranium, with so many different variations. The result of my scheming is eight unique Tsuru-Geranium Dresses.

Just two of the eight dresses are shown here; I'll reveal the others in subsequent posts. I just couldn't fit all of them in one post...there were too many gorgeous photos!!

I would have been a crazy woman to try to sew all eight dresses, take photos of each of them, and blog about it all myself (in the middle of Celebrate the BOY, no less), so luckily Karen LePage was able to sew my ideas into reality. Always delegate, is my motto! And as you will see Karen did not disappoint; her construction is impeccable, and they look absolutely perfect, down to the little details, like adding vintage buttons.

Tsuru is widely available in shops right now. The fabrics used for the dresses in this post are these four (see the entire collection here on the Cloud 9 website):

The pattern (for both dresses, of course!) is the Geranium Dress; as both a sleeveless dress with patch pockets and as "view b" with a tunic length, accomplished by adding a contrast band to the top-length skirt.

I hope you're excited to see more Tsuru dresses and meet a new friend of Clementine's who will join her tomorrow in the photos!

Oh! and I can't not mention this exciting announcement from Cloud 9 last week! I'm so happy to have been able to collaborate with Cloud 9 on a fabric collection too!! It's due to release later this summer (incidentally, I had no idea the fabric design thing was even a remote possibility when I agreed to do this Tsuru project. Yes, that's really how fast it happened. Crazy). Anyway, it was so fun, and I can't wait until I can show you the new collection!
