Welcome to Made By Rae! I’m Rae, a professional home executive, mother of two, and wife to wonderful (and computer-savvy) Mr Rae. I’m also a temporarily retired high school physics teacher. I love to sew! This blog is a showcase for my crafty stuff. Over the last few years I’ve been supplying Craftblogland with a bounty of free sewing patterns and tutorials on my blog, including the popular Buttercup Bag, Spring Ruffle Top (featured on Sew Mama Sew), and the Itty Bitty Baby Dress for newborns. Please purchase a PDF sewing pattern from my pattern shop to support my pattern-making endeavors! I’m a Sew Mama Sew Board member and have proudly contributed tutorials to their extensive collection: Spring Ruffle Top Tutorial, Crayon Box Quilt Tutorial, and the Fold-up-and-snap Bib Tutorial. EVENTS Celebrate the BOY: an online collaboration with Dana of MADE where we do only boy-themed blog posts for an entire month, including tutorials, roundups, and giveaways from a number of guest contributors. Go to the Celebrate the BOY archives to see all of our boy-related posts! Spring Top Week: a fantastic online contest for readers hosted by me here on Made By Rae that is designed to encourage selfish-sewing. Enter a top you’ve made for yourself for spring into the contest! A panel of judges helps narrow down the contestants, a final reader vote is held on the blog to determine a winner, and there are always great prizes! Check out the Spring Top Week page for more information. SE Michigan Crafters Meetups: I host the local SE Michigan Crafters Meetups along with Karen of One Girl Circus. If you’re in the SE Michigan area, please join us for an evening of crafting fun! LOCATION I currently reside in Southeast Michigan, although I’ve lived in the Bay Area and grew up in West Michigan.
