Hi! I’m Rae! Welcome to my website!
I live in Ann Arbor Michigan with the handsome and tech-savvy Mr Rae, and my three kiddos, Elliot, Clementine, and Hugo. I used to be a physics teacher, but now I sew, blog, and make sewing patterns. I have a sewing studio in downtown Ann Arbor where I occasionally host sewing workshops and classes.
Here are some of my favorites from my blog:
- my tutorial page
- some handy tips and tricks
- pictures of my studio in Ann Arbor
- my thoughts on balancing work and life
- tips on sewing women’s garments
- my top five favorite fabrics for clothing
- my Celebrate the BOY archives
- Spring Top Sewalongs
- the KNITerviews
My focus on creating simple, high-quality patterns with beautiful illustrations, photos, and easy-to-follow instructions based on reader demand has made me one of the leading producers of downloadable PDF sewing patterns online! You can find all of my patterns in my pattern shop. It thrills me to hear how many people have learned to sew with a pattern or tutorial of mine. I love to sew, and I want you to love sewing too!
I also teach classes and host events–both locally and around the country–educating sewists of all skill levels on how to sew clothing for themselves and for their children. Check out my trips to shops in Atlanta, Seattle, Vermont, Ohio, and the sewing weekend I hosted at my studio in Ann Arbor.
