Fall Workshops are here!

Since I re-opened my studio in downtown Ann Arbor earlier this year, I've been hoping to offer garment sewing workshops, and I'm happy to announce that I'm offering a few different garment sewing workshops this fall.

Since I'm just getting started with this again, I'm trying out a few different time options (Saturday during the day, Tues/Wed evenings, and a Thurs/Friday morning option) for October and November. So hang in there with me while I experiment a little to see what the demand for workshops looks like and which times are most popular. And feel free to hit reply if you have any requests!

If you're anything like me, the change in weather has you taking a look at your fall wardrobe and thinking about things you'd like to sew. This season, join me in the studio to sew a pair of Rose pants, sew my popular Trillium dress, or tackle some basic bodice fitting

I really hope you can join me for at least one of these! Space is limited and the first one starts soon so sign up now and save your spot!!! And if you know anyone who is local who might be interested in these, I would love it if you could please send these to them.

Finally, I realize I’m casting a wide net as most of you don’t live close enough to take a workshop at my studio. But I would also love to start offering Zoom workshops during the daytime and maybe even on weekends, so if you think you’d be interested, feel free to comment and let me know (and if you have ideas for topics or patterns you’d be interested in taking, that’s great too!).

bonus cutting sessions

Since my studio is on the cosy side and to create a more efficient workshop (and increase the likelihood of finishing your garment), I'm going to try having everyone arrive with their pieces traced (for the bodice class) or cut (for Trillium and Rose) out ahead of time - it's easy to spend 1-2 hours on cutting and tracing.

You can either trace and cut your pieces out at home ahead of time, or come to one of my free (OPTIONAL) evening cutting sessions I'm offering at the studio. I'll help you get your size selected and get you started with cutting.

Friday October 27 7-9 PM

Friday November 10 7-9 PM

You're also welcome to cut out your pattern at a Sew Ann Arbor sewing night or open studio day (if you’re local and not signed up for that email list, you can sign up here)!

Finally, did you know that I offer free local pickup in my shop for print pattern orders from my studio? If you’re local, you can swing by and get any of my print patterns for free. Just select “local pickup” at checkout!

AND: If you’re not quite ready to tackle a garment but want to learn how to use a sewing machine or get started with your serger, I’ve got 2 hour in-person lessons in my shop as well.

Hope to see you at one of my workshops soon!!
