NEW IN MY SHOP: Patternsy + Rose

Since Rose launched last May, we’ve gotten a lot of requests for it in print. And I get it; it’s a pants pattern and it has big pattern pieces. We’ve never printed a pattern for its launch, preferring to first see how it does in digital form before committing to the big investment that is printing a pattern.

Rose was immediately successful at launch (our biggest pattern launch to date, actually), so I was really hoping to have it printed this spring in time for the spring sewing boom. Printing a pattern is a significant investment though, and while I still hope to put Rose in print eventually, this past year has turned out…differently than I had hoped in terms of business. So instead, I’ve been working behind the scenes for the past few months to come up with another option for Rose in a printed format for those of you who prefer to have the printed pattern pieces. The result? I’m excited to announce that I am collaborating with Patternsy to offer the Rose pattern pieces in printed form in my shop for US customers, and in their shop for non-US customers.

What are Patternsy pattern pieces?

Patternsy is a print shop in the UK that offers full color digital printouts for PDF patterns (in fact, you can upload any PDF pattern to Patternsy and have them print and ship it to you). My friend Meg (of Sew Liberated) introduced me to them a couple of years ago, and I really liked the quality of the printouts, which are a coated lightweight paper that is far more sturdy than pattern tissue (y’all know my feelings about pattern tissue), but they are lighter than the pattern sheets we usually have in our full printed patterns, making it possible to ship them via first class mail. The Patternsy Rose printout includes all of the pattern pieces for Rose on a single pattern sheet, full color and full size, with seam allowances included.

If you live in the US, you can purchase Patternsy pattern pieces in my shop at the same time as the Rose PDF pattern for a limited time. After you checkout, you’ll get the full digital pattern (instructions, print at home pattern pieces, copyshop pattern pieces) delivered to you via download link, PLUS I’ll mail you the printed pattern sheet via US Mail.

Or use these direct links to each listing in my shop:

A note about shipping: US Mail is untracked; add more printed patterns to your cart if you want FREE shipping with tracking. Please allow up to a week for your pattern pieces to arrive — it takes me 1-2 days to put your pattern in the mail, and then a few more days to get to you depending on where you are in the US.

What if I already purchased the Rose pattern and just want to order the printed pattern pieces?

That’s totally fine! If you already purchased the Rose pattern from my shop, you can purchase the Patternsy pattern pieces on their own, and provide proof of purchase in the “Special Instructions” box when you view your cart before checkout. Proof of purchase is the Order Number or Transaction Number from your original Rose pattern purchase (search “Made by Rae” in your email to find it).

Digital Instructions + Printed Pattern Pieces is also an option

I’m also offering one more option in the shop: if you select the “Printed Pattern Pieces + Digital Instructions” from the drop down menu in the listing, you will get the printed pattern pieces and the digital INSTRUCTIONS for Rose, but not the digital pattern pieces, so you’ll pay less for this option. This one is for those of you who have zero desire to have the digital pattern pieces.

This means you will get the digital Rose instructions via a download link, and the Rose pattern pieces will be mailed to you, but you won’t have any digital pattern pieces. This also means you won’t be able to print out the pattern pieces if you lose or cut into your pattern pieces, for example, so please consider this option carefully (and for for the love of pete, TRACE). Here’s what that would look like if you view your instructions on a tablet (iPad not included, by the way. You gotta supply your own):

What if I live in Canada or the UK (or any other non-US location)?

I’m able to mail Rose to US customers only, but the folks at Patternsy have generously created a Rose page on their website where you can upload your Rose pattern pieces and have them print and ship them to you:

Copyshop files come with ALL of our women’s digital patterns (and some of our children’s), but the process of uploading and printing a copyshop file can be complicated and expensive, especially if its your first time. If you prefer having a printed pattern and are thinking about buying Rose but are put off by the idea of having to print out the pattern pieces, I hope you’ll consider buying this limited-time product and supporting our small businesses.

This project is by no means a big money-making endeavor for me. However, it allows us to offer something many of you have requested at a reasonable price, while still staying flexible.

Thank you in advance for supporting this project. I also want to give Mark and Su at Patternsy a huge thank you for their willingness to work with us on this — it’s been a lot of work on both sides, but I’m really happy with the result and I hope you love these beautiful pattern pieces as much as I do.

For size, yardage charts and other details about the Rose sewing pattern, please visit the Rose page. And stay tuned - a Rose Sewalong is coming soon!!!!
