Floral Ruffled Gemma Top with buttons

By now, regular readers will understand that I am basically incapable of making a pattern as-is. Today’s exhibit: a Gemma tank with a ruffle and button front.

The ruffle mod is available as a tutorial [see: How to add a ruffle to Gemma; it’s also part of my Creativebug Gemma video workshop], but the button front was a new experiment. I also scooped out the back neckline a bit, just for fun, and then added a couple darts in the back to shape it near the waistband.

If you must know the whole truth, this top was a trial run for another Gemma mod (a Gemma + Rose jumpsuit experiment, for which the buttons on the front really are a necessity if one is to get the jumpsuit on/off with any regularity. And yes, that experiment turned out quite well, if you were wondering), but I’m delighted with how well it goes with so many other items in my handmade wardrobe:

The Gemma pattern is designed for bust sizes 32-51” and is available in my shop in PDF format; plus you can find the Gemma Workshop on Creativebug, and you can the ruffle tutorial is here.
