NEW SIZES for Cleo!

I'm so happy to announce that our beloved Cleo skirt PDF pattern is now available in an updated size range! Our BRAND NEW size range now includes fourteen sizes (A-N) and is designed to fit waists 25-60 inches [64-152 cm] and hips 35-70 inches [89-178 cm]. I'm excited to debut this all-new size range with our Cleo pattern!

We've also updated the Cleo instructions to give them a fresh new look -- including adding metric numbers to our charts – and added layers to the pattern pieces so you can select just the size(s) you need when you print them. We also simplified the pattern pieces to reduce the number of printed sheets and conserve paper.

For those unfamiliar with this summer staple, Cleo includes two views: View A has a curved cutout-style pocket and a contrasting double-folded hem, while View B has hidden inseam pockets and a longer length. In addition, the pattern pieces are arranged to make it easy to mix and match features (view a pockets with view b length), or add length (to create a Cleo maxi).

about our new size range

One of the things I’ve been working on for the past year is a new size range for my adult patterns. I wanted to do more than just add more sizes to our existing size range — as many of you know, we have been gradually adding more sizes since 2015 — but I was discovering some limitations to that approach, so I wanted to rework the chart completely. I also wanted to introduce size-neutral labels (“A” and “K” versus “xxs and xl”), eliminate the delineation between “straight sizes” and “plus sizes,” and make the chart more gender-neutral (“chest” versus “bust”).

Chest is not a significant measurement for Cleo (it’s a skirt), but regardless, here is our new size range; Cleo is the debut pattern for this range:

The original Cleo pattern included nine sizes (xxs-xl & plus sizes 1-3) and was designed for waist measurements 27-45" and hip measurements 35-53". The new version of the pattern is designed for waists 25-60 inches [64-152 cm] and hips 35-70 inches [89-178 cm].

You can find the new size and yardage charts for Cleo on the Cleo page on my website.

Let's take a look at a few versions of Cleo from two of our lovely testers…

Jenny (above) made this View B version of Cleo out of a gorgeous blue linen.

Elana (below) made two lovely versions of Cleo: one in yarn-dyed cotton and another in rayon challis. She photographed them in identical poses so you can see how the different fabrics affect the fit and silhouette:

Jenny’s second version is a fun cotton madras print, also View B:

Special thanks to Jenny (@johassler) and Elana (@elanaknt) for providing photos for our Cleo re-launch!
