Twill Rose Pants with an invisible zip

I recently finished these stretch twill Rose pants; take a look…

I decided to go with the single pleat on each side, full length, and modded them a bit. First by narrowed the back pieces, then I added some back darts and pockets, and inserted a little invisible zipper at the side. Was I too impatient to buy a matching zipper? Yes, yes I was. Do I regret it? Yes. A little bit.

I used some Robert Kaufman stretch twill that I purchased at Seams in Lansing. And the pattern of course is my Rose pant pattern, which is available in print or PDF in my shop (and many other shops including Seams).

The back waistband still has an elastic casing, so they’re super comfy; but I like that with a heavier twill like this one, you don’t get as much bunchiness in the back along the elastic waistband if you do it this way.

One last in-progress shot so you can get a better look at the back waistband:

My Rose pattern has shorts, cropped pant, and long pant lengths, and comes in sizes XXS - XL and plus sizes 1-5 (up to 60” hip). There’s also a full sewalong for Rose on my blog. Check it out on the Rose Page!
