Ruby in Reversible Gingham
This reversible Atelier Brunette reversible gingham gauze captivated me from the instant I saw it at Marengo Studio when I started working there in May and I just knew it had to be something like a Ruby or a Geranium. Obviously I had to use one side of this fabric for one part of a garment and the other side for another. Obviously. And so it became this fun breezy Ruby top - perfect for hot summer days.
And fun announcement: I will be teaching a one-day workshop on how to sew Ruby here in Ann Arbor on Saturday, August 1st, so if you’re interested in sewing an easy gathered top with me like this one you can find those details HERE!!
Is this blog turning into a journal of all of the things I have been sewing for studio samples and classes? Yes, that is definitely possible.
Pattern notes: I decided to go with a lined yoke rather than finishing the arms and neck with bias due to the loose weave of this fabric (it does have a bit of trickiness to it…). And I widened and cropped the body a bit as well which means that it’s closer to the width and length of Garnet, Ruby’s sibling pattern.
Ruby is currently available in digital format in sizes A-N, which includes plus sizes - up to 66” chest / 70” hip, and at some point I hope to put it back into print again, and the pattern also comes with a dress length. You can buy the pattern in my shop, or take the class with me on August 1!
