Droplet Capelet

This knitted Droplet Capelet — finished late last year — joins my growing collection of knitted shawls, all of which are adding a layer of cosiness and warmth to my daily outfits. I recommend this pattern if you’re looking for a nice beginner shawl project, especially if you intend to knit other lace patterns, as Denise’s brilliantly simple stitch pattern hits just the right combo of interesting yet mindlessly meditative. For me it was the perfect project for binge-listening to podcasts or sitting in on Hugo’s Suzuki lessons.

I love the shape of the capelet, and that it can be worn in multiple ways. I also love the story that goes along with this pattern and its name that Denise describes in the introduction to the pattern, which is incredibly moving and meaningful.

In these pics I’m wearing this capelet with my chestnut-colored Trillium dress, shown here layered over my grey Jade tee, and I’m also really excited about how it’s going to coordinate with Emerald dresses and tops, a sewing pattern I hope to finally release sometime this year (*crosses fingers).

I’ll leave you with this in-progress pic, where you can really see the droplet shape emerging!
