Willamette Pajama Set

I’ve had both the Hey June Willamette sewing pattern (gifted by Adriana, thanks Adriana!) and this champagne silk-cotton fabric (gifted by Robert Kaufman Fabrics - thank you RK!) for a number of years, but it only occurred to me to try making a color-blocked pajama set after I saw a handful of images where cream and yellow silk were used together (this one, this one, and this one…hell, I have a whole board devoted to yellow).

As it happened, around the same time I stacked the silk-cotton on top of a piece of pale yellow cotton lawn (leftover from this top…wow this blog is old! also: SCROLL DOWN for the cutest pic of Clementine, ever!) and so this pajama set became a thing. I finished the pants two summers ago, and finished the top this spring. I opted not to add a button at the top of the faux placket on this view, but if I make this top for daytime wear, I would definitely consider adding the button(s).

The pants pattern is a pajama pants pattern that I was developing in the summer of 2019 with the hope of eventually selling it that has since fallen by the wayside (thanks pandemic! and thanks, utter lack of childcare for working parents!! *waves USA flag and rolls eyes*).

It’s been pretty hot in Michigan lately — not nearly as hot as the west coast, but super humid — and these have been the perfect summer pajamas. I really like how the silk feels, and love even more that it’s a silk cotton blend that is machine washable. The fabric is called Radiance, color Champagne by Robert Kaufman - and I purchased it at Fiddlehead Artisan (full disclosure they were a former sponsor of this blog…oh yup: they still have it, here it is!). I like that this fabric doesn’t feel overly fragile or fancy, both of which would likely put me off of wearing these on the regular.
