Stretch Thread, my new BFF

This is actually the second post I’ve written entitled “Stretch Thread, my new BFF.” (first here)

Same title, different thread. You didn’t think I would have the same BFF forever, did you???

If you like to sew with knits like I do, this Seraflex thread by Mettler is really strong and stretchy, unlike other stretch threads I’ve tried. My only complaint was that you have to be really careful when ironing it because it will melt. Ask me how I know that 🤣

[ My tutorial for sewing knit hems — How to Sew Beautiful Knit Hems — shows how I might use this thread ]

Full disclosure @mettler_thread sent me these spools for free, but I’ve been trying them out for over a year so I think they thought I would never post about it. I wanted to make sure that the hems stitches wouldn’t pop when worn (they’ve held up great). My time is valuable and I make sure when I accept something for free that they know I will only post about it if I really like it, no strings, etc. hopefully that gives this review some cred.

One issue: I don’t actually really know who carries it, so if you’re a local slash independently owned shop that sells this thread and you want to shout out your little establishment, please let me know in the comments. Who knows, I might even edit this post with some shop links.

Here’s a video so you can see a comparison to standard polyester thread (note that I don’t sew garments with cotton thread, which breaks even easier than polyester).
